Form of workThe Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) is a 22-bed ICU located in the Meijer Heart Center specializing in highly acute post-cardiac and advanced heart failure patients. Nurse techs are able to care for a wide range of patients and devices including heart/lung transplant patients, post-operative open-heart patients, patients requiring extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), CentriMag, Impella, and long-term ventricular assist devices (VAD). Experts in caring for the most critically ill patients in our area and throughout Michigan. We are at the forefront of cardiac medicine, engaging in cutting-edge innovation and research. CTICU staff are a vital part of the multi-disciplinary team making personalized health simple, affordable and exceptional.
This is a full time position, we are looking for individuals for this role that can work the full schedule year round. This role requires you to work 3 12 hour shifts a week, with a weekend rotation as well.
Nurse techs in the ICU are hired once a month, it's required an individual can work the orientation schedule which will include classtime with Nurse Educators on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday during the first week of work, from 8-4:30 PM.
2024 upcoming hire dates for Nurse Techs in the ICU begin:
Mid February: 2/12, 2/13 & 2/14 & Advanced Safety Care (ASC): 2/26
Mid March: 3/11 , 3/12, and 3/13 & ASC: 3/25
Early April: 4/8, 4/9, & 4/10 & ASC: 4/22
Early May: 5/6, 5/7, 5/8 & ASC: 5/20
Summary
Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Performs basic skills per hospital/unit guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team.
