Job description

The Nursing Program Simulation Lab Technician (Sim Tech) provides the installation, maintenance, programming, and operation of technology patient simulators, lower technology task trainers, and clinical equipment used in nursing education.
Major Responsibilities

  • Support daily operations of clinical Simulation Lab
  • Provide technical support to students and faculty
  • Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds
  • Assure facility and equipment are organized and prepared for teaching sessions by preassembly of props, moulage, learning materials, and documentation
  • Assure operation of simulators, digital cameras, video cameras, audio/video mixer, monitors, LCD projectors, and other equipment related to simulation education.
  • Pre-brief students, staff, and faculty
  • Operate simulation console and software, debriefing equipment, and human patient simulator
  • Assist faculty in monitoring students' safety
  • Provide theatrical support (including moulage and voice over)
  • Provide feedback for improving simulation experience to the simulation coordinator
  • Maintain the Simulation Center as a clean, safe, and operational facility and optimal learning environment
  • Conduct routine equipment maintenance
  • Salvage re-usable supplies and repackage
  • Monitor supply stock; inform simulation coordinator when supplies are needed

This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Hiring Range:
  • $40,000 - $45,000 annually based on experience

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree
  • 3 years equivalent work experience
  • Ability to work with various and changing technology
  • Self-directed with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • License in healthcare role (LPN, RN, RT, paramedic)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology & anatomy/physiology

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Registered Nurse licensure
