The department offers services at more than 40 locations in Deschutes County including public schools; health clinics in Bend, La Pine, Redmond and Sisters; five school-based health clinics; agencies such as the KIDS Center and the State of Oregon Department of Human Services; area hospitals; care facilities and homes.

ABOUT THE JOB:
In this full-time position you will have the opportunity to be part of a seasoned team of providers and certified medical assistants to ensure equitable clinical services are provided. We have clinics in Bend and Redmond and a new mobile clinic that will provide public health clinical services throughout Deschutes County. The Nurse Practitioner provides free or low-cost birth control, annual exams, pregnancy counseling & referrals for all options; HIV testing & PrEP; pre-pregnancy counseling; emergency contraception; sexually transmitted infection (STI) Testing & Treatment for all genders; and referrals to needed services such as behavioral health and primary care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high quality, direct clinical care and therapeutic interactions with patients, including those with complex medical and social risk factors, and those with diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds in the areas of wellness, reproductive and sexual health to adolescents and adults of all genders.
- Collaborate with clinical team members, Program Manager, and other teams throughout Health Services to meet the needs of our community including other important public health functions as needed.
- Ensure quality by practicing within professional, legal, and ethical standards, including following policies and laws that govern professional practice and national practice guidelines and standards.
Knowledge of or experience with:
- Assessing, evaluation, diagnosing, and treating patients.
- Federal, state and county laws, codes, rules, and regulations governing public health.
- Epidemiology, communicable disease, immunizations, sexually transmitted diseases, health education, and preventative programming.
- Counseling and treatment planning.
- High-risk populations, cultural competence, trauma management, and Title X program and policies.
- Applying public health principles and practices in a regulatory environment.
- Assessing, diagnosing, treatment, monitoring of clients and consulting with specialists as needed.
- Working effectively with others to develop solutions for sexual health problems.
- Providing health and mental health assessment, treatment, and diagnosis.

Compensation
$7,613.12 to $10,202.31 per month for a 172.67 hour work month. Excellent County benefit package when eligible. This union-represented position is available immediately.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Nursing or related health care field;
- AND two (2) years of related nursing experience in public or community health.
- Licensed and Nationally Certified as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner, (in good standing) as outlined by Oregon Revised Statutes and remain in good standing.
- DEA Certificate and Prescriptive Authority.
- BLS for Provider Certification.
- One year of experience working independently as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Two years of recent and relevant Reproductive/Sexual Health Nurse Practitioner experience.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Necessary Special Requirements
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of hire date. The employment offer will be contingent upon presentation of an acceptable and verifiable driver's license, pre-employment screening for criminal history, driving history, and controlled substances (NOTE: Positive test results for marijuana use may result in rescission of a contingent offer of employment). This screening must be completed with satisfactory findings in order for a formal offer of employment to be extended.
Must have dependable transportation and be willing and able and to drive throughout Deschutes County to various health clinics, in sometimes adverse weather conditions.
Must comply with professional continuing education and training requirements.
