POSITION TITLE: Nurse Informaticist I/II
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the management, coordination, implementation, maintenance, planning and evaluation of Sky Lakes Medical Center’s Information Systems in the Surgical Services department and other areas. Reports to the Manager of Clinical Informatics or the Director of Information Services or designee.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Manage and lead the coordination, implementation, on-going maintenance, and evaluation of system functionality for Epic’s Optime and Anesthesia modules. Assists with both Nursing’s Clinical Documentation, other Epic modules, and Provider support as needed. Assists with other informatics systems/issues as needed in Information Systems.
- Takes the role of Principal Trainer (PT) and Clinical Analyst for the Optime and Anesthesia modules and works collaboratively with the Principal Trainer program in advancing the curricula and Support plan with Directors, Learning Resources and Nursing Education.
- Conducts interviews, collects information, assesses hardware, software, operational, clinical and business needs; identifies and documents customer workflow and requirements.
- Works with the Education Department in organizing the Tip Sheet submission and posting process along with the Epic Newsletter and Epic communication on SkyWeb.
- Presents technical recommendation(s) and solution sets to meet operational and clinical efficiencies; informs customer and leadership of what will be involved in the project(s) and documents the process, focusing on the impact on quality outcomes and efficiencies.
- Plans with Directors, Providers, Information Systems, Ambulatory and Inpatient caregivers for maximizing involvement in planned and unplanned downtimes, application support, and optimization.
- Communicates effectively with leadership, providers, management, supervisors, and operational staff both internally and externally providing sufficient technical review, direction, clarity, and feedback for all parties involved.
- Makes regular rounds throughout the hospital to acquire feedback from Director’s, PT’s, CT’s and KU’s in assessing the effectiveness of the Information Systems and impact on end users’ ability to maximize clinical documentation and charge capture, while maximizing the best clinical outcomes. Manages relationships with trust, honesty, and respect.
- Participates in hospital committees as appropriate and assigned. Writes related policies and procedures as needed.

Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s Degree in nursing or related area or equivalent level of training/experience; five (5) years healthcare experience; familiar with healthcare operational and business workflows; ability to organize work and attend to detail; and an ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and multiple schedules. Works closely with Surgical Services leadership, staff, Providers, and advances operational, clinical, and business objectives into functional Information Systems supporting the SLMC’s focus on patient safety and quality outcomes. Takes call as needed.
PREFERRED:
Experience working with Epic Information Systems and Epic’s Optime and Anesthesia Modules, other Epic modules, or Clinical Systems; Master’s degree in healthcare informatics or equivalent level of experience; Applicable healthcare experience with surgical services workflows and revenue cycle knowledge; functions as a top-level contributor with surgical services information and operations workflows.

PAY RANGE: $46.14 - $67.35 / $48.85 - $71.68
Salaried; pay is based on experience.
