Department Overview
The Marketing and Communications function develops, executes and oversees a broad spectrum of strategic communications initiatives, provides communications counsel and support to all lines of business, and manages the corporate branding program at PG&E.
Position Summary
The position is responsible for developing materials and content that support Diablo Canyon Power Plant operations and the southern part of the South Bay/Central Coast Region for PG&E. Through this role, the successful candidate will be required to provide copywriting, editing and digital production services for internal and external audiences. The role requires building relationships and working closely with technical subject matter experts and other communications professionals to develop articles, opinion pieces, presentations, scripts, digital content, and other communications to provide timely, relevant information to a variety of stakeholders.
Primary responsibilities:
- Writing and editing communications content, and digital production
- Interface with corporate Marketing & Communications, Nuclear Generation coworkers, and other internal stakeholders to develop timely, accurate and accessible communications in support of the company’s objectives relative to Diablo Canyon Power Plant and the South Bay/Central Coast Region
- Support the development of communications related to regulatory and operational milestones
- Contribute ideas, research, and edit content for various internal and external channels ensuring consistency in tone, voice and alignment with company principles and strategies
- Devise and produce appealing digital content for internal and external channels, including visual presentations and social media
- Review, edit, and revise communications from other stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure conformity with approved talking points, corporate style and tone, and general communication best practices
- Ensure compliance with all PG&E regulatory requirements
To obtain and maintain employment and unescorted access at DCPP, you must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen, a security background check, psychological screen, computer-based training, and be subject to random drug and alcohol screening.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
A reasonable salary range is:
California Minimum: $90,000
California Maximum: $136,000
Job Responsibilities
- Executes integrated external and internal communication plans for the organization, specifically focused on business initiatives.
- Creates original content that can be used in media messaging, news releases, social media, fact sheets, and PG&E blog posts
- Plan and manage media events, employee events, video webcasts and conference calls.
- Provide strategic counsel on communication planning and development, editing/reviewing services, message control and alignment with other lines of business.
- Maintain a keen focus on delivering messaging to media and coworkers.
- Regularly provide reports on communication activities, project status and success metrics.
- Provide coaching, development and support to colleagues within the Marketing and Communications team.
- Staff emergencies as either a first responder, a strategic advisor, or both, as required.
- Will be required to fill an on-call rotation in the DCPP Emergency Response Organization (ERO) as necessary.
- Promptly respond to support occasional after-hours and/or weekend emergency events and issues.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
- Job-related experience, 5 years
- CA Class C License, or equivalent
- Record of Clean Driving
Desired:
- 4 years or more experience in media, public relations or communications (in-house or agency)
- Bachelor's degree in Communications or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication – a good storyteller who can quickly and succinctly develop speeches, messaging, employee communications, etc.
- A demonstrated ability to develop and execute integrated communications strategies
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams)
- Ability to be on-call, including on nights, weekends and holidays, as a rotational member of the emergency response team
- Business acumen, preferably combined with a knowledge of energy and utility issues
- Media relations background
- Experience developing content and managing communications through multiple delivery channels (web, print, video, social media)
- Knowledge of graphic design
