Job Description:
As a Nuclear Medicine Technician, you will be responsible for performing various nuclear imaging procedures and tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. You will work closely with physicians, radiologists, and other medical professionals to ensure accurate and timely imaging results.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals in patients for imaging procedures, following strict safety protocols.
- Operate and maintain specialized Nuclear Medicine equipment to produce high-quality images.
- Position patients accurately and efficiently to capture appropriate images.
- Monitor patients during imaging procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout.
- Review patient histories and consult with medical staff to determine the most appropriate imaging procedures for each case.
- Collaborate with radiologists and physicians to interpret and analyze imaging results.
- Maintain accurate records of patient information, imaging studies, and procedures performed.
- Adhere to radiation safety guidelines and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Perform quality control checks on equipment and troubleshoot any technical issues that arise.
- Stay updated with industry advancements and participate in continuing education to enhance knowledge and skills.
Requirements:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field.
- Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Valid state license or ability to obtain one.
- Prior experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technician preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in operating Nuclear Medicine equipment and associated imaging software.
- Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact compassionately and professionally with patients and medical staff.
