Form of workThe Department of Orthopedics is recruiting for an experienced PA/NP to join 14 Orthopedic Surgeons and 20 PA/NP's on staff. This person will work closely with one orthopedic surgeon and collaboratively with another midlevel colleague. Major area of focus would be adult reconstruction and sports medicine with an emphasis on Shoulder and Elbow surgery.
Basic duties may include: OR equipment set-up, first assisting, rounding with in-patients, emergency evaluations, post-op checkups, outreach duties and general clinic practice. The PA/NP will support the assigned surgeon with histories, physicals, casting, splinting, evaluations, treatment planning and post-op care. This role will work cooperatively with athletic trainers, physical therapists, nurses and support staff and share call equally. A Wisconsin license and completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program is required.

The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP)performs the functions of examining, assessing, planning, and implementing the health care of assigned patients under a licensed physicians supervision and direction. The Orthopedic PA/NP secures patient histories, performs physical examinations, orders laboratory tests, develops and implements treatment plans, performs diagnostic and treatment procedures, records findings, and provides patient education and counseling to enhance our effectiveness in providing routine therapeutic health care in the area of musculoskeletal disorders.

Must have completed an accredited program and be eligible to obtain a license to practice in our multi-state region with no restrictions or limitations.
