Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview
The New Product Development Co-op/Intern will work within the New Product Development team which designs and develops Medium and High Voltage connectors and Fiber Optic Communication products, this role will support the Engineering and Lab team by assisting various steps within the new product development process.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in preparation of test samples for mechanical testing in accordance to ANSI, ISE, IEEE and Telcordia compliance standards
- Assist in test set up of equipment (Machinery and hardware)
- Acquiring, prepping, and cutting conductor for testing
- Identifying and Stocking test samples in the proper locations
- Removal and disposal of test samples and hardware after testing
- Assist in implementing and maintaining 5S process for lab spaces
- Organize and maintain conductor and fiber optic database
- Coordinate First Production Part (FPP) sample manufacturing and complete inspection using 3D scanner
- Aid in Design of Parts Assist or Products and Model in Autodesk Inventor
- Assist in document preparation for design reviews and tollgate approvals
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and weekly design meetings for new products
Skills and Experience
- Active Enrollment in BS program majoring in Mechanical, Materials, or Electrical Engineering
- Strong Interest in testing of products and product development.
- Strong mechanical design interest using strength of materials
- Prefer experience with 3D modeling
- Must possess strong written and oral communication skills.
