GEO Academies-Baton Rouge Classroom Assistants are responsible for:Assisting teacher in preparing classroom materials; Supervising & assisting students during class and other activities; Helping to maintain classroom order and discipline; Providing group/individual tutoring to students needing extra help; Assisting in grading & recording students’ work; Communicating with parents & guardians as needed; Attending staff meeting & professional development sessions.
The successful GEO Academies-Baton Rouge candidate is required to have:
- An associate degree or higher; 24 credit hours in education or related field preferred.Passing ParaPro scores may be substituted for degree.
- Experience working with children in an educational setting or childcare setting.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal & written
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Knowledge of basic computer applications.
