NDT LEVEL III
Non-Destructive Test Inspector Level III
Purpose:
  • Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate opening for an NDT Level III Inspector position located in Norfolk, VA and surrounding shipyards in the Hampton Road Areas.
Job Description:
  • Reports to Vice President of Operations for all assignments and supervision.
  • Administer the NDT Inspector training and qualification program.
  • Responsible for management of the NDT Program in Maritime Modernization.
  • Oversees and approves quality standards for structural, pipe material and equipment receiving in-process and final inspection in accordance with company and contractual requirements.
  • Inspects and monitors work performed on government and commercial work items, specializing in weld and coating inspections.
  • Review work packages prior to start-work for completeness, accuracy and compliance with technical specifications and customer requirements for NDT requirements.
  • Perform in-process work surveillances and conducts final work-package review after work-completion for NDT
  • Perform internal audits to monitor compliance with company procedures and performs external audits to evaluate supplier suitability for use.
  • Review status of in-process rejections and recommends appropriate corrective action
  • Acts as a primary liaison with customers, vendors, and various company departments for NDT Program support
  • Advise management of test trends, returns, vendor performance and audit results and corrective action needed
  • Responsible for the training and performance management of assigned employees
  • Writes and administers qualification exams for Welder, Brazer, and NDT inspectors
  • Develop quality and workmanship standards for Welders, Brazers, and NDT
  • Monitor compliance with company Quality Management System, workmanship standards, and customer requirements
  • Develop quality control and inspection procedures for inclusion in production Work-Packages
  • Define test standards and specifies test equipment and procedures
  • Review technical specifications and contract requirements to advise Bid Team of welding, brazing and NDT requirements to help evaluate company capabilities and support the bid review
  • Review technical specifications and contract requirements during Work Package and QA Workbook development to provide guidance for welding, brazing, NDT technical requirements, PCP development, and qualification needs
  • Provide production technical guidance during accomplishment of projects
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections, audit and surveillances for the Welding/Brazing and NDT Program
  • Work with customer QA representatives to coordinate inspection and acceptance activities
  • Review QA control requirements with customer representative to assure compliance with requirement.
  • Review contractually required documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in business or program management and at least 10 years in the welding industry. (Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree)
  • Must have at least 10 years of specialized training in Quality Assurance; with at least 2 years must be as a designated NDT Level III
  • Must have a NDT Level III Examiner Certification for VT, PT, MT, and UT processes.
  • Must have documented qualifications for NDT Level III VT, PT, MT, and UT that meet the requirements of ASNT-SNT-TC-1A
  • Must be Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point
Desired Qualifications:
  • ASNT Certified Level III for VT, PT, MT, and UT, through testing
Security Requirements:
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Ability to gain access to private and public shipyards and Naval installations
Travel Requirements:
  • Occasional Travel- less than 10%
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to physically access ships, small crafts, and submarines
  • Must be able to spend hours, stooping, kneeling, crawling, walking, and standing
  • Will require work outdoors, in inclement weather, or in confined areas
  • Protective clothing or equipment and face shields or goggles shall be worn when welding, cutting, or working with molten metal.
