Primary Duties
- Responsible for monitoring, analyzing, testing, and repairing LAN, WAN, ATM, ADSL, Internet, and other data offerings
- Participates in 24x7 Surveillance center schedule; this schedule includes working other shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ownership and accountability for accurate and timely completion of service turn-up including coordination with field technicians and customers
- Working with field technicians and customers to resolve maintenance/repair problems
- Creating maintenance/repair work items in dispatch systems when required
- May be required to cross-train others
- May be required to assist the Voice Network Surveillance Team and perform other Support System duties in a Network Operating System Environment
- Respond to Network System outages and Emergency service conditions by following established procedures/protocols
- Coordinate with Repair, Field Technicians, and other intra and inter-department personnel to solve core Data Network troubles and customer complaints
- Monitor ticket status and update log-sheets daily
- Interfacing/coordinated testing with vendors and underlying carriers to resolve data service issues
- Tracking and monitoring maintenance performance and the impact on other processes
Experience/Background
- 3-5 years experience working with data networks preferred
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate the turn-up, installation, and repair of customer networks (LAN and WAN) elements
- Demonstrated experience using PCs
- Satisfactory performance and attendance in the last 12 months
- Demonstrated experience understanding the CBT support systems
- 2 or 4 year technical degree preferred
Work Environment
- Work location: Network Operations Center, central offices, and remote buildings
- Work performed in a team-oriented customer focused environment
- Normal tours of 8 hours, facility will be open 24 hours a day. Requires day, evening, or night tours, overtime, emergency callouts, weekends or holidays
- High volume, detail-oriented environment
- Size of office and work group varies depending on location
- May be required to work independently with minimal supervision
- May be required to wear appropriate safety equipment and follows established safety practices and procedures
- Dress code: casual business attire
