Overview
Axle is seeking a highly ambitious, adaptable, structured, and detail-oriented Scientific Program Analyst to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (DMID), Respiratory Diseases Branch (RDB), Viral Respiratory Diseases Section (VRDS).
Responsibilities
- Coordinate internal NIAID functions and project management of the NIAID Collaborative Influenza Vaccine Innovation Centers (CIVICs).
- Meet with the CIVICs Leadership, Project Officers and the Viral Respiratory Diseases Section Chief on a regular basis to provide oral and/or written reports on the status of ongoing projects and to receive new assignments.
- Effectively provide project management and administrative support to the CIVICs influenza programs. CIVICs is a complex trans-divisional program with many NIAID Staff involved.
- Project management support is required to ensure that internal NIAID actions are being tracked and completed.
- Attend meetings with program staff, write meeting summaries and briefing documents.
- Work effectively with cross-functional teams that span multiple divisions and sections of NIAID to manage CIVICs product development and clinical activities.
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules and work plans for CIVICs vaccine manufacturing, toxicology, clinical testing, and related projects and activities.
- Track timelines, milestones, and progress of CIVICs product development and clinical projects and activities.
- Track budgets, funding, and spending of CIVICs projects.
- Provide excel spreadsheets, written reports, power point presentations and additional outputs on CIVICs activities as needed.
- Schedule meetings with NIAID CIVICs team and provide appropriate follow up actions as necessary.
- Continue to track action items and follow up on them until the items are completed.
- Assist in uploading and updating information in CIVICs shared folders/sites and websites.
- Coordinate the review of CIVICs optional project applications with duties including organizing review meetings with NIAID staff, assisting in collecting any information necessary to make the awards, and tracking applications and awards.
- Coordinate the review of preclinical vaccine data packages with duties including organizing review meetings with NIAID staff and the CIVICs Steering Committee, collating feedback, and ensuring that review timelines are met.
- Track scientific publications of high interest from CIVICs-generated data that need to be reported and mapped to the NIAID universal influenza vaccine strategic plan and develop written summaries and reports as requested.
- Collect, analyze, and synthesize scientific information related to universal influenza vaccine progress across the programs.
- Organize working group meetings and assist with organization of annual CIVICs meeting.
- Assist the Viral Respiratory Diseases Section Chief with administrative activities as needed
Experience Required / Requirements
- Minimum of a master’s degree, in Biological Sciences, Virology, Immunology, Vaccine Development or a related discipline.
- Strong experience in project management and at least five (5) years of experience in managing projects.
- Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Project and/or other project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, GoToMeeting, WebEx and/or other meeting planning programs.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
