Description of Work
This opening is for a postion that will perform at a technical level that is responsible for independently reviewing, analyzing and correcting new offender judgments and commitment forms to calculate accurate sentence length and release dates. Work includes researching sentence laws, statutes, amendments and making a determination if the court has stipulated a sentence that is in conformance with the laws. This position is responsible for the interpretation and application of sentencing laws and the calculation of sentences applying all relevant policies and procedures. Must have considerable communication skills, oral and written, as this position serves as an information resource within the department and to outside agencies. Must work within OPUS to retrieve and enter data.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

About the Department of Adult Correction (DAC)
The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons, Correction Enterprises, the Division of Community Supervision, and the Division of Rehabilitation & Reentry.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:
- Demonstrated ability to interpret the N.C. General Statutes and Structure the judgment and commitments according to policy and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience utilizing various office equipment, Microsoft Office, and other relevant technology systems.
- Demonstrated ability to independently analyze, understand, and interpret applicable North Carolina Department of Adult Correction, State and Federal laws, policies, procedures, and/or regulations relevant to resolving problems and assessing questions.

Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
