DESCRIPTION:
First Financial Group is searching for an experienced New Business Coordinator to join our offices in Virginia Beach, VA on a HYBRID work schedule. The New Business Coordinator will work under general supervision, facilitating the underwriting process for Life and Disability Insurance applications submitted by Financial Advisors. As a New Business Coordinator, you will prepare client files for review, perform quality checks, order necessary underwriting requirements, and make any necessary changes to ensure insurance policies are issued accurately and efficiently.
Responsibilities*:
- Manage the application process from submission to placement of insurance policies.
- Collect, review, and process new applications, ensuring that all required documentation is complete and accurate.
- Input case information and upload all documents into firm management system to ensure accurate records.
- Act as primary contact for Brokers and Financial Advisors for case processing and underwriting inquiries, providing timely updates on the status of applications, and addressing questions or concerns.
- Validate Financial Advisor licensing and proper appointment for insurance policies submitted.
- Log correspondence between Home Office, Insurance Carriers, Case Managers, Brokers, and Financial Advisors.
- Order, track, and follow-up on requests for medical exams/records by insurance carriers to ensure timely completion.
- Send follow up notices to Financial Advisors until delivery requirements are completed.
- Ensure that insurance policies are issued promptly and accurately, meeting all underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Process issued insurance policies for mailing to Financial Advisors.
- Establish a deep understanding of all aspects of our business, customer requirements, and service expectations.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and company policies to ensure that all processes and decisions are in line with applicable guidelines.
- Educate others at various levels of expertise on the underwriting, terms, and coverage of insurance policies.
- Manage a variety of responsibilities with constantly changing priorities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:
- 2+ years of underwriting and New Business coordination experience in the Life and Disability Insurance industry.
- Life & Health Insurance license preferred (or ability to obtain within 90 days from date of hire).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to work within multiple CRM databases and maintain proper client records.
- Excellent communication skills to patiently explain procedures and concepts to individuals at various levels of expertise.
- A good listener, with the ability to ask probing questions, and present solutions to complex situations.
- Superior organizational skills, including planning, prioritizing, and overseeing concurrent projects.
- Self-starter with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, highly confidential environment.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- Compensation: Base Salary (commensurate with experience - starting at $50,000 and up) + Bonuses.
