Job Summary
We’re recruiting for a systems hardware engineer to join our team as Systems and Applications Engineer. You’ll work with a talented team of mechanical and Systems Engineers working on the development, design and deployment of advanced autonomy systems for commercial marine vessels. You’re hands-on, innovative and passionate about building great products for the real world.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Define, develop, and qualify hardware systems and architecture for Sea Machines products
- Work with manufacturers and contracted engineering companies to specify, design and manufacture Sea Machines products and components.
- Work closely with other engineers to define, design, and test features and system interfaces
- Work with product management and customers to evaluate and integrate new sensors from radars to IR cameras
- Prototype and test components and products in lab environment
- Work cross-functionally with technical teams developing autonomy, communications, perception, and system interfaces to deliver system verification and performance validation on new products in automated simulation and vessel trials
- Work with sales and business development on customer applications and proposals
- Troubleshoot and debug networking, hardware, and electrical systems of Sea Machines products deployments.
- Bachelor of Science or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
- 3-5 years of work experience in a Network Engineering Role
- Proven experience as a Network Engineer or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols/tools.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and diagnostic utilities.
- Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.
- Collaborate with other functional teams to seamlessly integrate software and hardware systems
- Extensive knowledge of ethernet and/or serial communications
- Experience with PLM or PDM systems preferred
- Excellent analytical and program solving skills
- Self-starter and highly motivated
- Effective collaborating in a team environment or working independently
- Comfortable traveling on occasion for company business or customer success
- Experience with CAD (Solidworks and Autocad preferred)
- Marine electronics or marine industry experience preferred but not required
