Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is all about hands-on results in enhancing and securing Centennial’s computer networks. You will be analyzing our network's performance, collaborating with others in the Information Technologies branch to increase network capacity, and providing network support. You should exhibit a solid knowledge of network infrastructure, preferably with experience in a similar role. To succeed in this position you should be passionate about staying up-to-date on industry and product knowledge and technical skills, building and enhancing tools, developing best practices and refining our operational procedures so our network performance and security is always improving.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages and supports LAN and WAN Network devices
- Implements approved Network changes in accordance with applicable procedures
- Analyzes and diagnoses network problems for a variety of users
- Recommends corrective solutions to be applied to network hardware or software
- Performs preventative maintenance tasks
- Assists other groups in troubleshooting problems that require packet analysis or performance review
- Creates, publishes and maintains up to date and accurate Network documentation including periodic reporting of network traffic, issues, security status, etc.
- Monitors and restricts access to sensitive, confidential, or other high-security data
- Configures and installs firewalls, routers, remote access devices, network sniffers and switches
- Maintains device configuration versioning and backups
- nstalls firmware and security updates to network infrastructure to maintain security
- Reviews and hardens device configuration; analyzes and improves firewall rules and security configuration
- Assists in cyber incident discovery and response to include determining scope, urgency, and potential impact; identify specific tactics, techniques and procedures used; and make recommendations which enable containment and expeditious remediation
- Configures, hardens, updates and deploys IP devices (IP cameras, VOIP phones, various IoT devices)
- Configures and supports both secure internal and public Wi-Fi infrastructure
- Researches job relevant issues and make recommendations
- Performs firmware updates, urgent network repairs and occasional network changes outside of business hours
- Travels to other Centennial offices across Northeast Colorado as needed
- Performs other job duties and complete projects as assigned
ADDITIONAL SHARED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Daily analysis of security events using security tools
- Configure user access and two factor authentication, and support employee access and authentication
- Assign key fobs for employee door access and manage Door Access Server software
- Monitor Email Security Filter to identify and remediate inaccuracies and security deficiencies.
- Assist in development and execution of Centennial’s security program (asset inventory, vulnerability management, etc.)
EDUCATION:
Qualified candidates may have an Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar, though hands-on experience and demonstrated ability in job-relevant tasks are preferred to formal education.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
- Valid Driver’s License required
- CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or similar vendor certification, preferred
- CompTIA Security+ or (ISC)2 Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) (Strong Preference), preferred
- Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA), preferred
EXPERIENCE:
- One or more years of experience as a Network Technician preferred
- Knowledge of as well as hands on experience with the following:
- Network Infrastructure
- Network Architecture
- Connectivity (layers 1, 2 and 3-4)
- Network Security (segmentation, firewalls, network access control, vpn, etc.)
- Device Security (configuration hardening, firmware updates)
- WAN, LAN, VPN, NAT
- Ethernet protocols, IP routing, TCP/IP protocols, packet analysis
- Ethernet protocols, IP routing, TCP/IP protocols, packet analysis
- Firewalls, Routers, Managed Network Switches
- Troubleshooting the above devices and protocols, and network cabling

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds regularly.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
