Job description

As a Network Project Manager for vCom Solutions, you are the hub of customer projects that works with internal departments, carriers, and clients to implement complex telecom services. The PM will also audit and enter orders into an operations support system (OSS) platform, provide support for service issues, respond to client inquiries, and assist on special projects.

In your first month, you’ll:

  • Focus on learning software/technology that you’re unfamiliar with
  • Learn vCom processes
  • Review documentation & watch training videos
  • Jump in and get projects within the first 30 days
  • Take the initiative to “figure stuff out”

In your first 3 months, you’ll:

  • Expand and improve knowledge with technology & processes
  • Handle a large volume of orders with speed and attention to detail
  • Contribute to building process and efficiency
  • Work with less supervision

In your first 6 months, you’ll:

  • Continue to gain knowledge and on-the-job experiences
  • Autonomously manage large and complex projects
  • Evaluate and document process and continually work to improve efficiency
  • Work with minimal supervision

What you’ll do:

  • Manage simple to complex new installations, moves, and disconnect orders and projects
  • Manage and coordinate new service and installation dates with vCom’s Account Managers, Implementation Engineers, affiliates, customers, and vendor
  • Ensure that all clients’ milestones and deliverables are met in a timely manner, including time sensitive moves, new products, multi-carrier and/or multi-product solutions
  • Be creative and organized in managing complex projects
  • Properly set customer expectations and continuously evaluate status of project and evaluate factors prohibiting any commitments to the customer, escalate when needed
  • Develop formal project plans, when required, and keep plan current and available to the customer as needed
  • Make autonomous decisions and be confident in backing those decisions with management
  • Quickly identify errors and provide a plan on how to overcome the impact of an error and avoid it in the future
  • Develop a working knowledge of all products and services being implemented
  • Identify processes and procedures that are no longer effective and/or efficient
  • Ensure adherence to provisioning guidelines and fundamentals to provide accurate and timely communication with customers
  • Maintain internal tracking databases
  • Act as a strategic resource for the customer’s implementation team
  • Develop a good understanding of vManager and encourage customer usage for order status capabilities
  • Assist in maintaining an accurate client inventory
  • Manage special projects as assigned

What you’ll bring:

  • 2-3+ years of project coordination in the telecom industry
  • 2-3 years of experience in telecommunication technologies including Local, Long Distance, Data, Internet, SD-WAN and other evolving technologies
  • 3-4 years of demonstrated experience within a fast-paced customer service environment
  • Demonstrated experience with client relations and vendor interface
  • 3-4 years of demonstrated experience with various carriers including facilities-based and non-facilities-based CLECs, and ILECs; experience with RBOCs and other large/national connectivity providers, highly desirable
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. This role requires the ability to communicate directly with customer’s project teams via conference call in a presentation format.
  • Strong PC skills including in depth knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Strong data entry skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
  • Self-motivated, with high learning aptitude, and initiative
  • Flexible schedule – ability to be available outside the normal business hours as the role requires communication in real time.
  • Ability and willingness to work more than a standard 40-hour work week, the work is time sensitive and must be completed in a timely manner
  • Ability to work in a high stress environment with many other teams requiring timely interaction and immediate redirection of priorities
  • Ability to work in a highly organized manner to stay in the know of the pertinent details of your projects and be able to articulate those details to team members or management as needed

It's also helpful if you've got:

  • BA/BS or equivalent work experience

Compensation:

  • $60,000-$80,000 annual salary, plus vCom's generous benefits package

Working Hours:

  • 8am-5pm Pacific Time

The Selection Process

  • After submitting a resume, qualified candidates will be invited to complete two separate assessments
  • Once the assessments are completed, candidates will participate in a pre-screening phone screen with Human Resources
  • A select group of candidates will be interviewed (rounds of interviews include the Manager of Project Management and VP of Operations, and possible others)
