Technology & Systems Department
The Technology & Systems department drives technological innovation for the company and advances the technology strategy to support global growth. This includes IT, Software Development, OT / Automation Systems, and business process improvement. At Vantage, we are very hands on. In most cases, we specify, purchase, configure and maintain all networking and server hardware. We also work closely with partner VARs to learn about the latest technology changes, so we can make informed purchase decisions. The Technology & Systems department participates in designing each of our new data center building's networking infrastructure, including but not limited to diverse pathways connecting to carriers, meet-me room (MMR) hosting (rack, cabs, ladders, cross connect panels...), wireless AP coverage, etc.
We rely on extreme collaboration with Sales, Construction, Operations and Corporate Functions to drive simplification, establish global standards with continuous improvement and speed to value. We are working to build a reliable, scalable, sustainable, and secure technology roadmap/landscape that enables us to better serve our customers and employees and be the partner of choice. Our focus is on speed to value with financial and execution discipline. We strive to double the good, halve the bad, in half the time.
Position Overview
Vantage is seeking an experienced, highly technical and detailed orientated Manager, Network, Global to lead a team of skilled network engineers distributed globally. This is a highly visible and crucial role within Vantage due to the network supporting communication between the BMS equipment used to keep our data centers running 24/7. The ability to foster collaboration between regions, drive consistency and ensure business goals are met is required to be successful in this role. An expert level of networking knowledge is required to navigate the challenges and resolve complex technical problems when they arise. This role will suit someone who has had a progressive career, previously worked as an support engineer at a senior level, possess a high level of technical skill (e.g. CCIE/JNCIE) and experience leading a distributed team across multiple timezones in a matrixed organization.
Essential Job Functions
  • Lead a team of network engineers based in EMEA, NA and APAC responsible for operational support and projects
  • Use performance measurements, metrics and dashboards to drive team performance and KPI attainment
  • Escalation point and subject matter expert for all network related queries

Duties
  • Lead and mentor a team of network engineers with an emphasis on operational excellence and global consistency
  • Ensure 100% uptime for data center availability to customers with automated KPIs for measuring performance, demonstrating uptime and providing self-service for customers
  • Ensure operational issues are addressed according to agreed SLAs and create a strong partnership with peers in operations, infrastructure and security
  • Be the authority (SME) for networking, review proposed technical solutions, encourage engineers approach problems from multiple perspectives and provide objective reasoning for decisions made
  • Solve highly sophisticated and technical problems, implement preventative controls with data analysis, root cause identification and effective control plans
  • Resource management striking a balance between operational and project tasks ensuring one does not adversely affect another
  • Develop and maintain network policies, standards and procedures with a clear aim to drive global consistency while keeping spending under control
  • Enforcement of agreed network policies, standards and procedures e.g. change management; where required make amendments/modifications to increase compliance and obtain stronger agreement from engineers
  • Actively engage with technical project managers and provide feedback to create accurate timelines/milestones, assist in identify potential issues and creating solutions to mitigate
  • Strong collaboration with our vendors and partners, continually look at opportunities to build a stronger relational and improve efficiency and be cost effective
  • Create and develop plans to transition tier 1 tasks to ServiceDesk, effectively use resources within the department, free up senior engineers to work on more complex and interesting tasks/projects
  • Automate repetitive tasks for speed and consistency wherever possible by using the internal automation team
  • Stay abreast of the newest technologies/trends and how they can be applied to current and future business needs

Job Requirements
  • 3-5 years management experience, leading a distributed team in a matrixed organization
  • Experience in all aspects of managing and developing a strong team, creating job specifications, hiring, creating development and progression plans, performance reviews
  • Highly skilled at reporting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) leveraging automated reporting and live dashboards to be used all levels within the organization
  • Familiarity with industry standard change management and compliance standards e.g. ITIL
  • Ability to prioritize and lead multiple ongoing projects and responsibilities to meet business technology needs
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Functions of this position are to be performed in a company-designated office or field location in-line with the company flexible working policy, minimum of 2 days a week
  • Travel required is expected to be less than 20% but may increase or decrease over time as the business evolves
  • 10+ years of networking experience with emphasis on career progression from engineer to senior engineer, working on a large disturbed network with 10+ sites all interconnected
  • Demonstrable networking experience at CCIE/JNCIE or higher level experience required
  • Expert level experience with LANs, fault finding and isolation, deep understanding of Layer 2 technologies such as spanning tree, Port Channel, VSS/Stacks/VPC etc
  • Strong experience with stateful firewalls, policies, VPNs, failover
  • Candidates with experience using Fortinet specifically FortiGate with FortiLink managing switches and APs will be highly desirable
  • Datacenter experience is required
  • Experience creating low level and high level detailed design documentation

Additional Details
  • Salary Range: $150,000 - $170,000 Base + Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)

  • Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown
