Job Title: Network Engineer
Role:
The Network Engineer is responsible for the development and maintenance of the City’s network infrastructure. This role involves designing, engineering, testing, integrating, and deploying network solutions to ensure optimal performance and security.
Responsibilities:
- Deploy LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other hardware.
- Ensure timely upgrades of all network hardware and related software.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
- Maintain network performance history, provide network performance statistics and reports.
- Practice network asset management, including maintaining inventory and technical specifications information.
- Manage network security solutions, adhering to industry best practices and regulatory guidelines.
- Assist with purchasing and acquisition of network components and services.
- Collaborate with the IT Infrastructure Manager on short-term and long-term planning for network operations, considering end-users' needs.
- Assist in the development of procedures and standards pertaining to network operations.
- Prepare and process various reports, correspondence, and documentation as necessary.
- Participate in meetings, conferences, and training sessions to stay informed and convey information effectively.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Four years of professional experience in data communications, networking, troubleshooting, and repair; OR
- Two years of professional experience in data communications, networking, troubleshooting, and repair, supplemented by necessary years of education/technical training in data communications from a college or other accredited institution for a total of four years of education, training, and/or experience.
Certifications:
One of the following or an advanced certification:
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
Physical Demands:
Positions in this class typically require fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Special Requirements:
Must obtain and maintain CJIS certification.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $30.00 - $34.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
Ability to Relocate:
- Chattanooga, TN 37403: Relocate before starting work (Required)
