Network Engineer
NextStep's client is seeking a highly motivated Network Engineer to contribute to designing, building and supporting a next generation network. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in transforming/modernizing WAN, LAN, Voice and Wi-Fi networks with a focus on user experience. As a technical expert in your field, you will engage with business and technology associates to ensure the network meets the demands of the future.
Overview
- Responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining new and existing Networks and infrastructure.

- Networks Engineer duties and responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain our network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and
performance. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, analyze network needs, and propose solutions.
- Configure and troubleshoot Cisco switches, Ruckus Access Points and Fortinet firewalls to optimize network performance and security.
- Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve issues to minimize downtime.
- Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers to ensure effective network management and support.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices
and make recommendations for network improvements. - Provide technical support and guidance to junior network
engineers and other IT staff. - Participate in security management.
- Use diagnostic tools to determine deficiencies.
- Suggest and oversee improvement processes.

- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS,
for a related field - 6+ years of experience as a Network Engineer or similar
role - Very good understanding and knowledge of networking
and application-level operations - Ability to quickly diagnose issues and suggest solutions.
- Cisco and Fortinet Certification highly desirable
- Experience with and knowledge of the Forti and Cisco IOS operating system
- Experience with SD-WAN solutions
- Experience in routing and switching with industry standards.
