About the role:
The Network Architect is responsible for oversight, provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and cloud infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hosted services, physical hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, policies, and procedures. 
This individual is accountable for the following systems: Windows systems, Virtualization Systems, Storage systems, Internetworking/LAN/WAN/WiFi support for multiple offices, Azure, Telecom, Data Center operations, Tier 2 & 3 Support requests, and projects as assigned by the Infrastructure Manager. 


Essential duties and responsibilities:
Systems Engineering and Provisioning

  • Self-starter with an organized mindset.
  • Experience with the operations of a wide spectrum of hardware.
  • Experience in providing customer support of a variety of physical and virtual devices.
  • Experience with hosted productivity and communications applications
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and engineering of technical infrastructure and operating systems
  • Understands hybrid cloud architecture solutions that will meet the strategic needs of the company
  • Develop, Maintain and Contribute to system documentation, processes, and procedures
  • Develop, organize, and maintain cloud and on-premises systems using industry best practices.
  • Lead the organization by implementing Identity and Access Management Lifecycle
  • Respond to technical issues in a professional and timely manner.

Operations and Support 

  • Provides ownership and innovation of the monitoring and alerting of perimeter networking across the organization
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media. 
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts per request. 
  • Provide Tier 2/3 and other support per request from various end users and support staff
  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.
  • Coordinate and communicate with impacted stakeholders 

Maintenance 

  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis as well as administrative tools and utilities.
  • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures. 
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning. 
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required
  • Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required. 
  • Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment. 

Complexity/Problem Solving: 

  • Position owns a variety of production services and provides direction to others. The question/issues are typically clear and require determination of which answer (from a few choices) is the best. 

Communications/Interpersonal Contacts: 

  • Must maintain a positive attitude when working with IT team, other colleagues, and customers. 
  • Interpret and/or discuss information with others, which involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many people; regularly provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues. 
  • Offer guidance in infrastructure movement techniques including application integrations into cloud platforms
  • Work closely with IT security to monitor the company's cloud privacy
  • Work closely with Development Teams to facilitate and implement growth within the Application Lifecycle
  • Effective collaboration skills to properly maintain relationships within the organization and external partners or vendors

Special knowledge, skills, abilities, training or special licenses/certifications needed to perform this job:

  • Cisco Route/Switch Networking and Firewall Policy
  • IPSec Connectivity
  • Telecommunications and VOIP
  • Advanced Working knowledge of network technologies and services: DHCP, DNS, VPN, Firewalls, Routers, Switches, Wireless Access Points. 
  • AD / Azure AD
  • Azure Sentinel and other SIEM Based Technologies
  • Microsoft Licensing Basics and Consumption Management
  • Strong knowledge of scripting languages such as: RegX & PowerShell 
  • Working understanding of Agile Framework
  • Azure Infrastructure as a Service and Platform as a Service Offering Subject Matter Expertise
  • Engineering Cloud-Based Systems for Operational Support and Turnover
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies such as: Windows Server 2012/2016/2019, Active
  • Directory, Group Policy, Azure AD, Azure AD Identity Management
  • Strong knowledge of Web Hosting systems running IIS and SSL. 
  • Working knowledge of VMware and Citrix Virtualization technologies. 
  • Working knowledge of server and network hardware: HP Servers, iLo, Cisco/HP Network hardware, Cat6, Cat5e, Fiber Cabling. 
  • Strong knowledge of Enterprise Server Backup Systems and Backing Up Cloud to On-Prem/vice versa. 
  • Experience supporting a 1000+ user environment across multiple geographical locations

Education & Experience

  • Education
    Minimum: Associate degree with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science

  • Experience 
    Minimum: 3 years system engineering experience 

  • Certifications

Microsoft Azure or Microsoft 365 (Preferred)

Other details:

  • Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice
    Travel: 0 – 2 trips per year • Working in Data Center environments with cool temperatures

Pay Range: $125,000 -$135,000. Exact pay will be determined based on candidate experience and geographical location.
