Network Analyst - Network Support

Network Support Analysts are responsible for monitoring and maintaining the company’s network systems. They test and analyze all network facilities components, (including hardware, software, and power), monitor systems, track performance and status, and help to identify and repair network failures. Network Support Analysts coordinate the details of a network outage, which includes the occasional emergency replacement of inoperable equipment to reduce the impact to the business, and they partner with service providers to restore service. Network Support Analysts work the incident queue (including opening, prioritizing, troubleshooting, following-up, notifying, escalating, communicating, and documenting) and pull in additional resources as needed for incident resolution.

This position performs analysis and other tasks necessary to design, configure, and implement Costco’s enterprise network infrastructure with a focus on North America and International connections along with strategic partners. This will involve working with Analysts and Engineers across the Infrastructure and Applications Development areas to create detailed design recommendations and solutions.

ROLE

• Designs and configures routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, access points, and other network infrastructure.

• Develops and implements network solutions and strategies that meet business needs.

• Develops plans for network infrastructure that adhere to Costco’s IS security and network standards.

• Develops, prepares, and assists in implementing standard practices and procedures for network infrastructure devices.

• Identifies and resolves network issues in accordance with incident and problem management policies, procedures, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

• Isolates network faults, utilizing packet captures and other enterprise network analysis tools.

• Configures WAN/LAN (hardware, software) prior to installation.

• Adheres to security and controls processes regarding network data.

• Evaluates vendor hardware and software recommendations for stability, operational reliability, and business need.

• Facilitates and/or collaborates on non-network designs, choice of technologies, and deployment strategies.

• Provides second and third level support for recovery and restoration of the network in event of a disaster or major incident.

• Configures and troubleshoots routing protocols, with multi protocol route redistributions.

• Identifies and resolves problems, often anticipating issues before they occur or before they grow; develops and evaluates options and implements solutions.

• Designs, implements, and documents firewall change requests.

• Works on developing wireless technologies in the network enterprise.

• Gathers and analyzes user and project requirements; design solutions to meet those needs working with Network Analysts, Engineers and other technical and non-technical teams.

• Analyzes network capacity and availability to meet networking requirements while maintaining a secure environment.

• Researches new networking solutions to solve problems or deficiencies.

• Documents and diagrams network solutions, configurations, and break/fix steps.

• Mentors and provides documentation and training to Network Support as well as other technical staff.

• Designs, configures, and implements wired and wireless moves, adds and changes.

• Ensures network devices patching and compliance.

• Drives to innovate automation at the network layer (e.g., firewall requests and patching).

REQUIRED

• Demonstrated proficiency in wired and wireless networking-based technology either with work experience or applicable certification.

• Thorough understanding of the OSI model, as well as IPv4 protocol suite.

• Strong troubleshooting skills to isolate network faults.

• Knowledgeable on Security and Firewall Best Practices, procedures and compliance.

• Experience on mass deployment of network patching and compliance.

• Able to work with vendors providing/supporting hardware and networking services in a professional, respectful manner.

• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to create and present documentation or proposals for projects/tasks.

• Ability to work effectively and make confident decisions under pressure.

• Must be a self-starter and able to perform in a quickly changing environment.

• Scheduling flexibility to meet the needs of the business including nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Occasional travel both domestically as well as international.

• Current CCNA certification.

Recommended

• 4 + years’ experience designing large scalable networks using multiple vendor networking platforms and routing protocols.

• 3+ years’ experience with Palo Alto, Fortinet, InfoBlox, F5, Cisco, Juniper.

• 2+ years’ experience with Network monitoring tools, such as LiveAction, Netscout, Splunk.

• Proficient with packet capture tools and network protocol analysis.

• Experience with DNS, DHCP, and IP management tools.

• Experience with Unix, Linux, Windows server administration, and virtualization.

• Established understanding of Load Balancers and traffic shaping protocols and tools.

• Experience building/supporting highly available, scalable cloud-based platforms and infrastructure for cloud native systems.

• Established proficiency of LAN Switching and WLAN 802.11ax controller based and Wireless Bridge technology.

• Knowledgeable with multi factor authentication and authorization processes and protocols. TACACS+, Radius, ISE, LDAP, AD, authentication services, as well as SAML token/certificate-based client authentication.

• Experience with SD-WAN technologies.

• Familiarity with scripting and APIs as they relate to Network Automation.

• CCNP.

Pay Range: $95,000 - $125,000
