Job description

Position Purpose

Upholds the Credit Union’s mission of “Doing the Right Thing” by the planning, implementation, and scaling of the credit union’s network infrastructure across multiple sites, along with network security, business continuity plans, and ITS projects. Works closely with the Director of Infrastructure and Services on network design infrastructure projects. Qualified candidates will have detailed knowledge of complex networks that rapidly change to support the growth and development of Capital Credit Union.


Essential Responsibilities

Sets and Monitors the Department’s Standards
• Steps out of the daily activities of the Network Administrator function to assist in the planning of the ITS Department.
• Mentors staff on the roles and responsibilities of the Network Administrator position.
• Identifies improvements and efficiency of business and ITS processes and systems.
• Provides support to the ITS Support Specialists, Systems Administrators and Business Analysts during and after business hours.

Member Advocacy
• Leads by example and mentor employees in the areas of advocacy and providing exceptional service.
• Treats all members and co-workers with dignity and respect.
• Resolves issues and completes requests to members’ satisfaction.

Projects
• Leads in the development and implementation of new network services and products.
• Identifies options for potential solutions and assesses them for security, technical, and
business suitability.
• Works closely with vendors and end users ensuring that all ITS projects and support work is completed in a timely manner.  

Communications
• Uses excellent communication/listening skills to communicate highly technical information to non-technical users, including employees, technicians, and vendors. This includes frequent and timely updates for all work in progress or planned.

Technical Skills
• Always adheres to the Information Security Policies.
• Network and security implementation and support of a 24/7/365 environment running multi-tiered applications.
• Support and management of the Internet, Wide Area Network, Local Area Network, Wireless Local Area Networks and SD-WAN Network.
• Implementation and management of Fortinet firewall policies and objects with supporting various routing protocols (OSPF, BGP. EIGRP)
• Thorough understanding of network security including support for VPN, ZTNA, RADIUS/TACACS+, IDS/IPS, and Port Blocking.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP including IPv4 and IPv6
• Perform automated monitoring of resources and applications to proactively identify potential issues or failures with SolarWinds.
• Development and maintenance of documentation and process improvement
• Leads the configures and performs periodic Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity to ensure recoverability and data integrity.
• Strong troubleshooting skills including use of packet capturing software such as Wireshark and Network Monitor.
• Keeps up to date with regulatory, technical, industry, and other developments as they relate to Credit Union operations.
• Performs other duties as assigned by director.

Necessary Experience and Qualifications
• BA, BS, or MS in computer science or related field or five years of technical experience with applicable technical certifications.
   Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+ or equivalent
   Fortinet NSE Certifications
• High level of interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and efficiently with a diverse group of employees, technicians, and vendors in sometimes stressful situations.
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills and listening skills. Ability to communicate highly technical information to non-technical users.
• Strong project management skills with an understanding of how to define, document and track goals, scope, resources, schedule, quality, testing and communications.       Must be self-motivated with the ability to manage other people’s time, prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.
• Develop project plans and execute changes supporting the change management process.
• Stays current with relevant emerging technology advances.
• Ability to mentor other Network Administrators and Systems Administrators.
• Manage relationships with preferred vendors to maintain hardware and software standards.
• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage
changing priorities.
• Ability to analyze, research, and resolve technical problems.
• Ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgement and decision making.
• Ability to work outside of normal business hours.
• Must possess valid driver’s license. Some travel required to various branches, meetings, seminars, and conferences.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
• Office environment with moderate to high level of noise.
• Frequent use of telephone, copier, computer, fax machine, and other office machines.
• Prolonged sitting or standing, and ability to stay in one place or work in a confined area for extended periods.
• Frequent mental and visual concentration.
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for over 90 percent of work time.
• Some work to be performed outside of normal business hours.
• Moderate lifting of up to 50 pounds. Also, ability to transport objects weighing between 5 and 50 pounds for 5 to 10 percent of work time.
