Obsidian Solutions Group (OSG) is seeking a qualified Logistics Exercise and Simulation Directorate (LESD) Network Administrator to provide Support Operations and Capability Services to the Mission Training Complex Capabilities Support II Contract with service to the National Simulation Center (NSC) Support Operations (SO). The NSC is the leader of the Army simulation community, providing Soldiers, leaders, and units the tools they need to train everyday by developing and championing capabilities for the Synthetic and Training Environment (STE), Virtual-Gaming-Constructive Training Environments.


The NSC functions as the Executive Agent responsible for the Army Mission Command Training Support Program (MCTSP); providing direct support to training exercises and experiments for Joint National Training Capability (JNTC) through support to the Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) and support to Home Station Training (HST) through the Regional Simulation Center (RSC). NSC houses and manages the Combined Arms Center – Training Innovation Facility (CAC-TIF); deliver interim solutions to capability gaps, while simultaneously providing valuable user feedback to STE-IS and provides Senior Leaders with situational awareness through hands on demonstrations.


Requirements:
  • Provide administration of network and communications systems, including, but not limited to Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) systems.
  • Create monitoring reports and managing equipment logs, as well as ensuring the functionality of links.
  • Coordinate network administration and performance requirements with other members of the networking team; identifies, analyzes, and documents long-range requirements, and administers resources related to the enterprise network; prepare technical implementation plans that provide integrated solutions, including actions, milestones, timelines and critical paths required for complete solutions.
  • Research applicable standards and requirements documents to assure network compliance.
  • Plan for and provide reasonable responsiveness in terms of network performance (e.g., availability, reliability, and throughput).
  • Prepare activity and progress reports for the Government regarding network performance initiatives.
  • Administer the operation of LAN/WAN-related network services according to Government policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and implementing network software and hardware upgrades troubleshooting and resolving LAN/WAN performance, connectivity, and related network problems.
  • Administer LAN/WAN security and firewall management.
  • Network systems configuration of Layer 1 and Layer 2 switches, and routers and WAN technologies.
  • Firewall install, configuration, management, and security.
  • LAN/WAN monitoring and tuning tools and processes to include but not limited to, Solarwinds and Splunk.
  • Collaborate in the planning and implementation network security, including setting up firewalls, host security, network access controls, maintaining network access control lists and applying government security lockdowns as directed from the Government.
  • Support Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIPs) telephony including monitoring network data links, taking suitable actions to mediate any loss to voice services.
  • Install and configure DoD encryption devices.
  • Availability outside of working hours to resolve emergency issues promptly.



Qualifications

  • Possess DoDD 8570.01-M IAT II Certification.
  • Possess Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification.
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Information Technology, Network Security Management or a related field; OR Technical School offering certification in networking.
  • Shall possess 4 years’ of complex and progressive experience in implementing, administering, performing testing, and analyzing network systems.
  • Must have experience with current technologies and, where required for the task, emerging technologies.
  • Possess solid technical skills and experience with a variety of network protocols, software, and hardware involved in LAN and WAN operations.
  • Possess strong troubleshooting, analytic and diagnostic skills, along with good communication abilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Government hardware, software, and network components.
  • All personnel shall comply with and meet Information Assurance Technician Level II (IAT II) Certification requirements as specified in 05-PR-M-0002, Information Assurance Best Business Practice (IA BBP), Information Assurance (IA) training and certification, as updated, i.e. Security + and complete Computing Environment (CE) certification and/or provide proof of completion of training for their primary area of support, (e.g. Cisco, Linux, Microsoft, VMware, etc., prior to working these tasks or gaining access to the NSC Simulation Network (SIMNET), JLCCTC systems, and/or external connections - Global Simulation Center Network (GSCNet), the Joint Testing and Experimentation Network (JTEN) or other such dedicated or direct tunnel, extant, or future.

Travel

  • Up to 15% CONUS and OCONUS travel may be required for training and program coordination.
