This position will be located at the new GD-OTS facility located in Mesquite, TX.
SUMMARY: Designs, develops, and implements nondestructive testing (NDT) to evaluate the properties and conformance of a material, component, or system without causing damage. Records, analyzes, and reports test results. Writes testing plans and maintains test documentation in accordance with applicable regulations and requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform non-destructive tests on objects or materials to examine and attest functionality and performance.
- Identifies errors and defects in equipment.
- Use of ultrasound, radiography, or other techniques during the testing process.
- May be responsible for testing mechanical components, storage, or transport vessels. Like pipelines or containers.
To proficiently perform the above tasks, you must successfully complete the training activities described in the Other Requirements section.

Education and/or Experience:
- Required: High School Diploma/GED
- Prefferd Education: Associate's Degree
- Discpline/Major: Technical School or an applicable skilled trade program
- 0-3 years prior experience relevant to the positions functional area
- Certifications: NAS 410 Certification

Other Requirements:
Steps must be completed in the order assigned in accordance with the NDT Tech I Training Plan.
- Successfully complete a 40-hour radiation safety course approved by/paid for by the company. This online training would likely be scheduled for several consecutive Fridays/Saturdays or could be completed anywhere the candidate would have internet access. The time involved in attending the course would not be paid by the company unless it occurred during normal working hours with management approval. The cost of the course would only be paid one time for each employee. (Required within 1st two months)
- Complete a minimum of 200 hours of logged experience approved by the Responsible Level 3 Radiographer. (Required within 1st six months)
- Successfully pass the ASNT Industrial Radiographer Radiation Safety Program (IRRSP) certification exam. The cost of the exam would be paid for by the company. The time involved in taking the exam would not be paid by the company unless it occurred during normal working hours with management approval. The cost of the exam would only be paid one time for each employee. (Required within 1st six months)
- Complete a minimum of 800 hours of additional logged experience approved by the Responsible Level 3 Radiographer. (Required within 1st twelve months)
- Successfully complete a 40-hour inhouse digital radiography course approved by/paid for by the company. This training would likely be scheduled during normal work hours and may involve travel. The time involved in attending this course would be paid by the company but would be limited to 10 hours daily. The cost of the course would only be paid one time for each employee. (Required within 1st twelve months)
- Successfully complete an additional 40-hour digital radiography course approved by/paid for by the company. This additional training will be provided by an external provider. This training would likely be scheduled during normal work hours and may involve travel to an East Camden site. The time involved in attending this course would be paid by the company but would be limited to 10 hours daily. The cost of the course would only be paid one time for each employee. (Required within 1st twelve months)
- After the company verifies that the employee has a minimum of 1,000 hours of logged experience, the employee must successfully pass the companys General, Specific, and Practical exams (three types of exams). (Required within 1st 12 months)
Preferred:
- Experience with start ups, such as project planning, and establishing business processes, management systems, and work instructions is desired. This is an exciting opportunity to create the business processes, systems, and culture to stand up a high performing manufacturing operation.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
- Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds
