Nav Developer

Job Purpose Summary:

The NAV Developerwill join a small team responsible for the development, troubleshooting, organization, and documentation of our NAV environment for roughly 100 end users, as well as preparing for and migrating to Dynamics 365 Business Central. The candidate will deconstruct complex business requirements and utilize software best practices and past experiences to implement creative, efficient, and robust solutions for our end users. A strong understanding of accounting practices is preferable to be able to write and edit NAV pages, tables, and reports. Skills include working with Jet Reports, Excel, SQL (SSRS and SSMS), C/AL code, Power BI, and web services. The NAV Developer reports directly to the Implementation Project Manager.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Plan, design, develop, test, maintain, and support high quality solutions by analyzing business processes and creating functional processes in NAV.
• Solve business problems using development skills to build robust solutions for internal stakeholders.
• Thoroughly understand the Microsoft Dynamics NAV platform, participate in solution design, system configuration, testing, implementation, documentation, support, and ensure that client requirements are successfully implemented in a timely manner.
• Create formal technical/system/training documentation (Standard Operating Procedures) to standards and conventions as needed by team members, end users, and to maintain compliance.
• Collaborate regularly and effectively with internal stakeholders, outside vendors, Project Managers, and IT technical staff by defining project scope/milestones to develop business solutions and improvements.
• Schedule outside vendors' time across multiple projects and clearly communicate requirements as per the end user.
• Communicate technical issues effectively and promptly to non-technical people as well as understand requirements given by end users and business consultants.
• Monitor project progress by tracking activity, resolving problems, publishing progress reports, and recommending actions.
• Other tasks/projects as assigned by direct supervisor
• Occasional nights and/or weekend availability

• 3+ years experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV or related ERP system
• Bachelor's degree in applicable field preferred, or 5+ years on the job experience with Accounting, NAV and/or related systems.
• Proficiency in report writing within NAV, SQL, and/or Jet Reports.
• Proficiency in SQL query writing and C/AL programming.
• Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environment with many concurrent projects and competing priorities
• Ability to successfully work with and communicate with all departments and management levels (from executives to production workers)
• Ability to work with both business and technical staff and speak to both levels to gain full understanding of all requirements, financial impacts, and timelines for various projects.
• Understanding of Accounting fundamentals and related business requirements
• Analytical skills to assess the progress of development by vendors and in-house staff.
• Strong attention to detail and writing skills for SOP creation and development.
• Experience with Word, Excel, and other MS products.
• Excellent independent time management skills.
• Strong organizational skills to maintain and track various changes to the system over time.
