ODNR owns and manages state parks, state forests, state nature preserves and wildlife areas. We license all hunting, fishing and watercraft; oversee and permit all mineral extraction, monitor dam safety, manage water resources and serve as the second largest Law Enforcement presence in the State of Ohio.
We are accepting applications for a Natural Resources Technician2 within the Division of Parks & Watercraft, headquartered at Shawnee State Park , assigned to Scioto County. This is a permanent part-time position budgeted for 1664 per fiscal year (approximately 32 hours per week). This position may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
What you will do...
- Work outside in some of the most beautiful parks in Ohio
- Perform customer service functions with a willingness to go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction and safety.
- Maintain campground facilities, grounds &/or equipment including electrical repair, carpentry, masonry, waterline repair, asphalt patching, mowing, roofing, facility repair, painting, pesticide applicating under direction of licensed applicator, boat ramp repair and maintenance.
- Maintain a variety of park equipment and vehicles including dock repair and maintenance, resale fuel system repair and maintenance, and vehicle/equipment maintenance.
- Operate equipment requiring a Class B CDL including a d ozer, mini excavator, backhoe, loader, tractor, and skid steer.
- Interact daily with a variety of customers who utilize the park & watercraft facilities.

Qualifications
6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in semi-skilled maintenance functions (i.e., minor electrical repair, rough plumbing repairs, carpentry & masonry); 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in equipment safety practices; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in use of shop, hand & power tools; 6 mos. trg or 6 mos. exp. in operation of mowers & trucks; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in equipment & vehicle maintenance; valid driver's license; valid Class B commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by Sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio Revised Code.
