Position Description
ERT is seeking a Software Test Engineer to support development on the National Water Model (NWM) Team at NOAA's Office of Water Prediction. As a member of the NWM Team, the Software Test engineer will be responsible for evaluating software functions and designing test protocols to ensure that products work as intended. They will also be responsible for completing all testing procedures, suggesting performance changes, and preparing performance reports for the development managers. They will:
- Use the software as intended to analyze its functional properties.
- Design manual and automated test procedures to evaluate each software product.
- Build, code, and implement software evaluation test programs.
- Run test programs to ensure that testing protocols evaluate the software correctly.
- Conduct QA, smoke, regression, 508 compliance, stress, and user acceptance tests.
- Tweak the Software Testing systems for maximum performance.
- Finalize and document test procedures.
- Complete final tests and create test reports.
- Present test reports to management and suggest software fixes.
Requirements
A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience leading to:
- Strong analytic capability and the ability to create innovative solutions
- Must be able to work across multiple facets of the project and juggle multiple responsibilities at the same time.
- Prior experience on supporting National Water Model capabilities preferred
- Multi-Cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP) experience desired
- Web services, API, REST and RPC experience desired.
Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, hydrology, hydraulics, or related field, or equivalent.
Salary
The salary range for this position is $130,000 - 150,000/year.
