CACI is looking for an Ionizing Radiation Effects System Engineer to support the Radiation Effects office for various programs and projects such as Lunar Gateway, Human Landing System (HLS), Habitation and Logistics Outpost (HALO), and Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover (VIPER) at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.
What You'll Get to Do:
Candidates must have an established track record in the area of avionics Systems Engineering or other closely related electrical/electronics Systems Engineering areas. Understanding the space Ionization Radiation environment is of significant value, but not a requirement.
The successful candidate will be proficient in the following areas:

  • Systems engineering principles, processes, and methodologies.
  • Requirements analysis including working closely with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, identify needs, constraints, and objectives that the system must meet as well as implications for component failure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex technical issues.
  • Risk management including identifying potential risks and developing risk mitigation strategies.

This experienced individual will be a self-motivated, capable person with strong verbal and written communication skills. In addition to outstanding technical expertise, the individual must be very people savvy, strong customer relationship skills, possess a positive team-player attitude, be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise. Finally, the most qualified candidate will be an articulate speaker able to communicate complex technical with both circuit design engineers and radiation physicists. Must share our passion for our Nation's Space Program and share in the excitement of developing deep space exploration technologies.

Job responsibilities also include:
  • Interface with project and program offices, make presentations to upper management, and otherwise represent the Radiation Effects group in the context of risk management and compliance with program policies and directives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, document, and prioritize system requirements. Ensure a clear understanding of the program/project needs, operational constraints and other requirements.
  • Tackle complex technical challenges and devise innovative solutions to overcome obstacles encountered during system development and operation.
  • Perform other duties, as required.

This work takes place at NASA/JSC in Houston, TX, a highly stimulating and dynamic environment that is critical in human space flight and the space exploration initiative.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident for access to USG Facilities.
  • B.S. in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or closely related field
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Highly responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethic.
  • Highly developed coordination and organization skills.
