MRI, a woman-owned Technologies and Engineering Services company, has an exciting opportunity for a Simulation Engineeron the JETS II Contract at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. We are excited about what we do, and we need you on our team as we take on exciting challenges for NASA's pursuits in deep space exploration. This position will work with the JETS engineers and the NASA customer to develop 6-DOF Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) simulations in support of various NASA programs including the Orion and Gateway Programs These simulation tools are being developed to assist in the design, development, and oversight of the respective GN&C FSW including ascent, ascent/abort, entry/descent/landing, orbit, and rendezvous proximity operations & docking (RPOD) mission scenarios.
As a Simulation Engineer for Orion GN&C you will:
- Simulation model development and validation (for support of GN&C algorithm development and other analyses)
- Simulation scenario development and maintenance
- Supporting the GN&C algorithm developers in setting up simulations and debugging
- Directly interact with the NASA customers, along with various NASA support contractors, during technical meetings and working groups
- On-site support of pilot-in-the-loop work and studies
- Data preparation, analysis, and presentation of results
Skills and experience should demonstrate:
- Experience developing GN&C based simulation models
- Ability to code (C/C++, Python, MATLAB/Simulink) and implement simulation architecture updates
- General GN&C knowledge to debug models (sensors, dynamics, etc) and FSW performance
- Simulation data analysis (take simulation data from a set of analysis runs and develop/present informative deliverable)
- EDGE graphics model development (CAD, Blender, etc)
- EDGE simulation interface development (edge keys, relative nav overlays, etc)
- Ability to learn and work independently
- Excellent communication and documentation skills and the ability to work in a team environment consisting of NASA civil servants and various contractor employees
- Perform other duties as required
Here's What You'll Need:
Requisition Qualifications:
- Experience with TRICK/JEOD simulation architecture
- Experience with Orion Sim and/or ANTARES simulation environments
- Knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink/Stateflow toolboxes
Requisition Preferences:
- MS in Aerospace Engineering
- 5 or more years of experience in the field
- Basic understanding of spacecraft dynamics and operations (RPOD) experience
- Knowledge of RS-422 commanding, telemetry, network protocols
- Experience with version control systems such as Git
- Experience with MATLAB Autocoding
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position.
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Work Environment
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Attendance
Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
