Summary:

New York Edge Curriculum & Instructional Technology Department is seeking passionate and enthusiastic individuals to fill the part-time role of Audio Engineering Specialist to bolster our new music initiative, The New York Edge Music Production Academy. This program is designed for middle and high school students participating in our afterschool program. As an Audio Engineering Specialist, you will have a pivotal role in nurturing the next wave of music producers and engineers. We are seeking individuals with a robust background in Music Production, proficiency in industry-standard software like Pro Tools, and a deep grasp of music theory and production techniques. The ideal candidate should also possess hands-on studio experience, a solid musical foundation, and a track record of working with young learners. This role reports directly to Jasmin Martinez, Instructional Technology Assistant

Location: Bronx High School for Visual Arts - 2040 Antin Pl, Bronx, NY 10457

Part-time - up to 20 hrs per week

Number of positions: 1

Salary rang e: $28 - $35 per hr. Commensurate with education and experience.

This role requires you to be in person.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Implementation: Ensure the effective execution of the provided curriculum, meeting all specified learning objectives. Adapt and enhance the curriculum as necessary to address the evolving needs of students.

  • Project Creation and Management: Develop captivating student projects that promote practical skills and encourage creativity in Music Production. Offer guidance throughout the project development process, providing feedback and support as required.

  • Performance Planning and Facilitation: Take charge of organizing and supervising on-site student performances, showcases, and events. Offer assistance with on-stage setup, audio engineering, and performance techniques to ensure successful events.

  • Departmental Collaboration: Collaborate with fellow team members, actively participating in department-led events, contests, and initiatives. Share insights and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Music Production education program.

  • Student Development: Create a nurturing learning environment that motivates students to explore their creative potential. Provide individualized attention and guidance, tailoring support to address each student's unique needs and aspirations.

  • Mentorship: Provide mentorship and guidance to students, helping them develop their musical talents and pursue careers in the music industry.

  • Assessment: Evaluate student progress and provide feedback to help them improve their

  • Studio Management: Oversee and manage the Music Production studio, ensuring it has the necessary hardware and software for student learning. Conduct routine inventory checks and review equipment safety protocols.

    Required Skills

  • Significant hands-on experience working in Music Production studios, demonstrating a solid command of recording, mixing, and mastering techniques.

  • Proficient in using industry-standard software, particularly Pro Tools and other relevant digital audio workstations (DAWs).

  • Solid foundation in music theory, composition, and arrangement. Ability to guide students in creating diverse musical genres and styles.

  • Preferred background in music or production-related education. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective interaction with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.

  • Demonstrated ability to inspire creativity in students, encouraging them to explore innovative approaches to Music Production.

  • Organization: Strong organizational skills to efficiently manage multiple student projects, events, and administrative tasks.

  • A genuine passion for music education and a dedication to nurturing students' growth and development.

    Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required; some college preferred

  • A degree or diploma in Music Production, audio engineering, or a related field is advantageous.
