Lighthouse Community Charter School is looking for a talented Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) Coordinator to join our team who is relentlessly committed to ensuring that traditionally underserved students of color achieve our mission of completing college, securing a career of their choice, and becoming life long changemakers in their communities. LCPS staff believe that this important mission is not only attainable; it is essential to transforming our Oakland community. The MTSS Coordinator will be an integral part of the MTSS team with a primary focus on coordinating services and interventions at a specific school site. There are four MTSS coordinators total across LCPS: one at each campus (Lighthouse Lower, Lighthouse Upper, Lodestar Lower, and Lodestar Upper), and they are also a key member of each site’s administrative team along with the Principal, Assistant Principal of Instruction, and Assistant Principal of Culture and Expanded Learning.


This role is a great opportunity for an emerging leader who wants to coordinate services for students who need additional support at school; who is creative, collaborative, and solutions-oriented when supporting complex student needs; and who is interested in continuing to grow and develop their leadership.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Principal and Assistant Principals to design Tier 2 and 3 interventions and services aligned to the overall Tier 1 academic, social-emotional, and behavioral structures

  • In collaboration with Assistant Principals, monitor the implementation of Tier 2 and 3 interventions and services provided by support staff including Student Support Aides, Teachers in Training, and other staff.

  • Collect and analyze school-wide universal screener data and establish progress monitoring structures for students participating in Tier 2 and 3 supports and services

  • Monitor the quality of the MTSS program through the collection and root cause analysis of data to better the impact of interventions over time and to determine programmatic shifts or adjustments

  • Facilitate the design and implementation of individualized student plans that leverage evidence based strategies and practices in collaboration with a range of stakeholders, such as families, teachers, community mental health providers, counselors and administrators

  • Lead skills based groups, and train teammates to lead skills based groups, with students participating in Tier 2 and 3 interventions and model and collaborate with other teammates to support the implementation of skills based interventions

  • Facilitate the Coordination of Student Support Meetings and Student Success Team meetings as a structure to monitor student progress, identify interventions, and adjust plans accordingly

  • Lead professional development for staff regarding MTSS and Response to Intervention (RtI) and other topics in support of MTSS

  • Provide support in the implementation of individualized intervention plans through coaching and modeling with teachers and other staff

  • Communicate regularly with families to ensure aligned supports for students and to share data and progress

  • Provide reports to the Community Advisory Board on the effectiveness of Tier 2 and 3 interventions, along with learning opportunities for staff, parents, and community members.

  • Collaborate with the special education department to review data and determine appropriate next steps if students are not responding to interventions

  • Manage student 504 plans and the associated accommodations, modifications, and supports; ensure revisions of 504 plans annually and at the request of families

  • Collaborate with outside agencies, as needed

  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

We would love to hear from you if your educational toolbox includes the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree, required

  • Master’s Degree in Education, School Counseling, or Psychology, desired

  • CA Teaching Credential (Multiple Subject, Single Subject or Education Specialist) or PPS credential, required

  • 5 + years working directly with students in a school-based setting

  • 2+ years of experience leading a team in a school-based setting, preferred

  • Bilingual in Spanish, desired


SUPERVISION

This position reports to the SPED Program Specialist and secondarily to their site-based Principal.

TIME COMMITMENT

This position is 1.0 FTE (full-time exempt) and follows a 12-month (233 day) work year with significant student-free days for professional learning and collaboration with colleagues and interaction with families. Includes approximately 5 weeks of paid holidays/breaks during the school year in addition to accruing 10 days of PTO during the year for use during the summer.

Common Building Hours: All leadership staff are expected to maintain hours of 8:00 - 5:00 pm M-F with some flexibility to establish exact working hours based on full administrative team schedule.

OUR COMPENSATION PACKAGE

Range: $75-100K. Commensurate with experience.

Please note this role is grant-funded for the next four years and future funding for this position is dependent on continued funding and budget for these roles.
