Purpose:
Under the direction of radiologist and MRI supervisor, screens and clears patients for MRI procedures. Assumes responsibility for other related duties.
Responsibilities:
- Confirms patients’ appointments for the following day.
- Assists technologist with patient as needed.
- Obtains all previously completed scans/films needed for comparison with scheduled exam.
- Updates exam date in hospital computer system following completion of exam.
- Use of the Radiology Information System and Sorian Scheduling System.
- Places follow-up phone calls to other medical facilities, doctors’ offices, etc. as required to obtain previous films, surgical records, and all other pertinent information.
- Conducts phone interviews with patients to obtain in-depth background in order to schedule for MRI scans.
- Assures all necessary paperwork is received prior to patient’s arrival in the Department.
- Fills emergency appointment slots as needed.
- Directs patients to dressing room, informing them what articles of clothing must be removed, providing them with a hospital gown and informing them what to do with their clothing and valuables.
- Notifies Admission Office of add-on appointments not included on the schedule.
- Complies with established occupational BBF and TB exposure policies.
Qualifications:
Education and Formal Training Required: High School graduate having completed a commercial program. Successful completion of medical terminology and anatomy courses required. Keyboard familiarity. Ability to effectively communicate with people.
Experience Required: One year experience in a hospital or medical setting.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
