General Summary:
The Liaison Systems Engineer reviews defects and establishes root cause, provides an acceptable disposition to repair the discrepant condition using engineering principles and determines if a corrective action required.
*This is a Contingent position with our company (1-year or longer)*
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Resolves complex engineering problems related to the build of the aircraft.
2. Reviews defects and establishes root cause, provides an acceptable disposition to repair the discrepant condition using engineering principles and determines if a corrective action is required.
3. Reviews Engineering documentation (drawings, test procedures, and discrepancy tags) to enable technicians to understand the documents and continue working.
4. Reviews, develops, and implements revised/new processes using six sigma/lean principles.
5. Provides an acceptable disposition of non-conformance of commercial mechanical systems encountered during Manufacturing/Assembly process and production, including reporting of failures, malfunctions, and defects.
6. Documents how to repair the discrepancy using engineering principles.
7. Assists in determining if defects are Engineering related or workmanship issues. Documents defect findings.
8. Ensures that the proposed repair is equivalent to the Blueprint design or will not affect systems functionality.
9. Provide feedback, guidance and support to Core Engineering in regards to repeat engineering issues or component failures.
10. Assist Core Engineering in coordinating a closure plan for repeat engineering issues.
11. Incorporate design changes using CATIA V5.
Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:
1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field of study.
2. 5+ years of experience in the engineering field.
3. Experience with Flight Control, Landing Gear, Hydraulic, Environmental, Fuel and Powerplant Systems highly desired.
4. Computer proficient with experience in Microsoft Office Programs (SAP a plus).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Strong oral and written communication skills.
2. Strong analytical skills.
3. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
4. Detail oriented.
5. Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
6. Extensive experience with Six Sigma.
7. Computer proficient with experience in Microsoft Office Programs (SAP a plus).
8. Advanced knowledge of Mechanical Systems concepts, CATIA V5, and Standard Repair Methods (SRM).
Physical Requirements:
1. Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise heat-cold-dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.
2. Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, climb ladders, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
3. Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations, etc.).
4. Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
5. Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions.
6. Effectively communicate in Business English language.
7. Pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance, as required by job duties.
8. Pull, push, carry, lift or move materials/people/items/equipment weighing up to 50lbs or more during the work shift, with the use of Company provided "reach assistance technology" or "movement assist technology" (fork-lifts, pallet jacks, pulleys, dolly's, robotics reach equipment, people movers etc.), as required by job duties.
