Position Summary:

The Mortgage QA Specialist is responsible for the oversight of compliance and quality control duties for residential and home equity lending activities. They establish collaborative partnerships across the organization to develop and communicate the banks compliance and risk management practices as it pertains to residential loans. Provide comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of residential loan programs, systems, documentation, and compliance to ensure a thorough understanding across all relevant areas. This is not a remote position. Candidates must be able to work on-site in Sioux Falls, SD.

What will you do:

Accountabilities

Quality Assurance

Provide quality assurance, maintenance, and support as necessary to meet departmental goals and objectives.

  • Conduct pre-disclosure review of loan files to ensure loan documentation is supported by the loan file.
  • Conduct post close file review to ensure loan documentation is appropriately imaged, indexed and archived.
  • Provide audit and tracking of denied and withdrawn loan applications for residential secured loan applications.
  • Provide submission of loan files to third party quality control loan review to meet Fannie Mae guidelines.
  • Compile, review and communicate quality control review with appropriate department staff and management to address deficiencies in qc findings.
  • Review and communicate internal bank compliance reports with department staff to identify procedural or training improvement opportunities.
  • Review final title polices to ensure bank collateral is adequately covered.
  • Monitor and track receipt of post close documentation for real estate loan files, communicate issues with appropriate staff to ensure proper loan file completion.
  • Engage with appropriate internal team members or departments such as Operations, Compliance, IT and System Administrators to ensure corrective actions are identified and executed timely to mitigate risk and maximize efficiency.
  • Mentor and collaborate with lenders and operations staff; act as a subject matter expert for compliance related questions and day to day issues.
  • Assist with other department duties as needed to facilitate appropriate segregation of duties and backup.

HMDA

Provide oversight and review of LAR information for HMDA Data Submission.

  • Review department data to ensure data integrity that meets bank requirements on a monthly basis.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for system and procedure improvement opportunities as needed. Implement changes with department staff based on review of work product.
  • Assist and coordinate with HMDA related training for the mortgage department.

Qualifications

Secondary education in related field preferred. Five or more years of relevant work experience or a combination of education/experience that would enable incumbent to meet accountabilities and required competencies of the position.
