OREGON STATE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION OFFICE POSITION DESCRIPTION
Duration: 2023-2024 School Year (Semester 1 and/or Semester 2)
Job Title: Oregon State University Extension Office Intern
Supervisor: OSU 4-H Program Coordinator; Makenzi Evans
Regular Hours: 5-15 hours a week
Schedule: Flexible schedule Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Salary: minimum wage
Overall purpose and objective of this position:
The student intern will be a member of the OSU Morrow County Extension Service team and be introduced to
youth development, agriculture, and local community cooperation. The student will have the opportunity to
work in and learn about all areas of service throughout their internship.
Job Description:
Works with Morrow County 4-H Program Coordinator to implement hands-on, educational program events and activities, as required.
Greets visitors, answers telephone calls, emails, and decides on what actions, if any, are needed.
Participates in meetings, as appropriate and necessary, in preparation for planned events and
activities. Will include contacting participants, developing printed materials for distribution and could include teaching, training of other program presentations.
Writes news articles for publication, as required.
Assists in maintaining and updating the OSU Extension Morrow County website and social media.
Attends monthly Chamber meetings, as student schedule allows.
Intern will have their own dedicated computer to use, Oregon State email address, and office space.
Preferred Skills
Microsoft Office experience
Strong written and verbal skills
Outgoing and willing to work with people of all ages
Ability to provide quality customer service to clients
Ability to be flexible with day-to-day tasks and work assignments
Strong attendance and work ethic background
Social media platform knowledge
4-H experience a plus, but not required
Demonstrates a commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and inclusion
