This position will require a medical surveillance baseline exam.

Position:

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is hiring a Monitoring AnalystAnalyst 3 for the Idaho Falls Regional Office.

 

Salary Range: $29.00 - $35.16

 

Responsibilities:

· Conduct field checks, maintenance, repair, and calibration of high-pressure ion chambers and eco-gamma equipment at the Idaho National Laboratory.

· Serve as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration liaison for meteorological data collection, population, formatting, modeling, and analysis of the dose assessment software program (RASCAL) for plume dispersion.

· Support program staff with water and terrestrial monitoring and sampling, collection, transport, and outreach functions.

· Provide database support for environmental monitoring and surveillance data collection activities.

· Support the groundwater database interface.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Possession of a bachelor's degree in the physical or biological sciences, political science, business or public administration, engineering, or related natural resources management field OR any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to a typical four (4) year bachelor's degree. For example: Successful completion of sixty (60) semester hours of study, including twenty four (24) semester hours in a subject required for the specific discipline, is equivalent to two (2) years of undergraduate education; and/or experience performing routine duties in completing multiple tasks such as policy research, data collection, interpretation, analysis and preparation of reports and written documents for at least two (2) years can substitute for one (1) year of college. 
AND
At least four (4) years' experience managing and implementing, projects or component(s) of programs that are environmental, regulatory, or administrative in nature, where you were required to routinely perform program or project planning; provide technical assistance to staff, special interest groups and the public; and provide policy and/or regulatory interpretation and/or development.
OR
Possession of a master's degree in any of the above fields AND at least two (2) years' professional experience managing and implementing, or overseeing projects or component(s) of programs that are environmental in nature, where you were required to routinely perform program or project planning; provide technical assistance to staff, special interest groups and the public; and provide policy and/or regulatory interpretation and/or development.

Required Specialty Minimum Qualification

DEQ 5705 Data Management

Must have at least one year of experience performing data management activities such as database development and/or maintenance; data collection, analysis, research, and tracking; and developing tables, queries, forms, and reports.

 

Desired Specialty Minimum Qualification

DEQ 3064 Technical Services

Have a college degree in Engineering or Science.

 

DEQ 2228 Computerized Systems

Have successfully completed two (2) college or technical school courses OR I have one (1) year work experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or using an electronic data logger to record and enter field data; and /or utilizing Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software to develop engineering designs and specifications, and/or GIS software to draft maps and prepare information coordinates for surveying source water assessments, etc.

 

 

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit and work on a computer for 2-4 hours at a time.

• Ability to bend and reach filing purposes.

• Some periods of heavy reading and typing are required.

• Ability to lift 30 pounds when working with file boxes.

• Some travel may be required.

• Ability to climb ladders, staircases, work on uneven terrain.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds over rough terrain.

• Ability to work in adverse or inclement weather.

• Ability to work in extreme hot or cold temperatures both outside and inside.

• Ability to work on elevated instrument platforms, ladders, etc.

• Occasional travel required.

• May come into contact with hazardous waste/materials.

• Required to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" Clearance, including successfully passing a drug screening test and subject to random drug screening tests.

 

 

Optional Licensure or Certifications:

Certified Health Physicist (CHP)

Other Requirements:

· Valid driver’s license
