This is a temporary position (limited to 1385 hours).

Position: The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is hiring a Monitoring Analyst - Temp Analyst 3 for the Idaho Falls Regional Office. Salary Range: $31.84 - $35.16 Responsibilities:

Conduct field checks, maintenance, repair, and calibration of high-pressure ion chambers and Ecogamma equipment on and near the Idaho National Lab site.

Help National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) liaison acquire meteorological data and populate, format, model, and analyze the dose assessment Radiological Assessment System for Consequence Analysis (RASCAL) software program for plume dispersion.

Support the groundwater database interface and data collection activities in the Idaho Falls Regional Office; provide general technical support for the office.

Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a bachelor's degree in the physical or biological sciences, political science, business or public administration, engineering, or related natural resources management field OR any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to a typical four (4) year bachelor's degree. For example: Successful completion of sixty (60) semester hours of study, including twenty four (24) semester hours in a subject required for the specific discipline, is equivalent to two (2) years of undergraduate education; and/or experience performing routine duties in completing multiple tasks such as policy research, data collection, interpretation, analysis and preparation of reports and written documents for at least two (2) years can substitute for one (1) year of college. AND At least four (4) years' experience managing and implementing, projects or component(s) of programs that are environmental, regulatory, or administrative in nature, where you were required to routinely perform program or project planning; provide technical assistance to staff, special interest groups and the public; and provide policy and/or regulatory interpretation and/or development. OR Possession of a master's degree in any of the above fields AND?at least two (2) years' professional experience managing and implementing, or overseeing projects or component(s) of programs that are environmental in nature, where you were required to routinely perform program or project planning; provide technical assistance to staff, special interest groups and the public; and provide policy and/or regulatory interpretation and/or development. Required Specialty Minimum Qualification DEQ 2228 Data Management

Must have successfully completed two (2) college or technical school courses OR I have one (1) year work experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or using an electronic data logger to record and enter field data; and /or utilizing Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software to develop engineering designs and specifications, and/or GIS software to draft maps and prepare information coordinates for surveying source water assessments, etc.

College degree in Engineering or Science.

Have good knowledge of environmental data compilation, reporting systems, and programs gained by at least three (3) years of experience managing a comprehensive system of specific use environmental databases, where I was responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and overseeing database construction, development, implementation, and maintenance; developing procedures, formats, data standards, and quality control; consulting with users on current and future use of data and reporting systems; analyzing existing data for accuracy; interpreting trends and results of collected data; identifying, collecting, and integrating information into a comprehensive and relational database management system.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to sit and work on a computer for 2-4 hours at a time.

- Ability to bend and reach for filing purposes.

- Ability to lift 30 pounds when working with file boxes.

- Some travel may be required.

- Ability to climb ladders, staircases, work on uneven terrain.

- Ability to work in adverse or inclement weather.

- Ability to work in extreme hot or cold temperatures both outside and inside.

- Ability to work on elevated instrument platforms, ladders, etc.

- Occasional travel required.

- Required to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" Clearance, including successfully passing a drug screening test and subject to random drug screening tests.
