The following hourly pay rates reflect the anticipated base pay for this position:
If the selected candidate is a student pursuing an Associate-level degree: $16.00 per hour
If the selected candidate is a student pursuing an Undergraduate-level degree: $20.00 per hour
If the selected candidate is a student pursing a Graduate-level degree: $32.50 per hour
If the selected candidate is a student pursuing a Doctorate-level degree: $36.00 per hour

Role Description:
The Discovery Sciences and Technologies group is seeking a highly motivated undergraduate or graduate student to contribute towards molecular and cellular biology efforts to better understand the systems biology of host-parasite interactions.
Internship Summary:
The intern will perform molecular biology techniques associated with isolating RNA of tissues from a lab model of disease, will use systems biology approaches to analyze bioinformatics data to understand the immunological basis of parasite infection, and will apply in vitro and ex vivo cellular biology experiments to validate in vivo findings.

Internship Job Duties:
- Collect, preserve, and properly store tissue from a lab model of disease.
- Isolate total RNA of proper quantity and quality for transcriptomics.
- Identify statistically significant differentially expressed genes/pathways.
- Perform in vitro culture and treatment of immune cells.
- Assess inflammatory state of cultured cells via ELISA, Luminex, and/or FACS techniques.
Internship Qualifications:
- Student pursuing a major in biology, molecular biology, systems biology, or a closely related field.
- Experience with RNA isolation.
- RNAseq data generation and analysis would be an advantage.
- Familiarity in a range of other techniques (ex vivo and in vitro) including primary cell culture, ELISAs, Luminex, and FACS would be a plus.
