Mohs Medical Assistant

Established and fast-paced dermatology practice seeking dependable, friendly, and professional Medical Assistants to join the Mohs surgery team.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks of the Mohs Medical Assistant:

• Establish comfortable rapport with patients, prepare and assist them for exam or procedure.
• Enter medical histories and prescriptions into EMR.
• Assist physician during procedure/surgery.
• Prepare and collect pathology/lab specimens.
• Educate patients and respond to patient questions in the office and on phone as needed.
• Dress patients’ wound as directed by the physician.
• Using proper technique, numb patient’s skin using local anesthetics as directed by the physician.
• Sterilize all equipment and tools to be used for procedures.
• Utilize the computer/tablet to chart patient visits into their electronic health record, including documentation of all medical instructions given to patients.
• Clean and organize exam rooms, prepare procedure trays, clean and autoclave instruments, and stock supplies.
• Perform prior authorizations for prescriptions as needed.
• Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by providers and management.
• Handle all administrative duties in a timely manner.
• Must be quick on your feet, comfortable with a steady pace and willing to help team wherever needed.
• Teamwork is essential.

Knowledge and compliance with HIPAA regulations is required. Experience with Modernizing Medicine (EMA) software is helpful but not required. Must have outstanding social skills and possess the ability to get along with others and be a team player.
