Position Overview:
Our client, a dermatology clinic in Wilson, NC, is seeking a skilled Mohs Histo-technician to join their team.
Our client, a dermatology clinic in Wilson, NC, is seeking a skilled Mohs Histo-technician to join their team.
- As a Mohs Histo-technician, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service in a dermatological office setting.
- Your primary duties include preparing and maintaining dilutions and stains, mapping and coding tissue specimens according to Mohs technique, and maintaining CLIA compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain dilutions and stains.
- Map and chromacode tissue specimens according to Mohs technique and CLIA manual guidelines.
- Cut horizontal frozen sections and vertical sections as dictated by the provider.
- Prepare microscopic slides for evaluation by the surgeon.
- Dispose of tissue according to disposal protocol.
- Maintain quality control on all processed slides and monitor ongoing QC study.
- Accurately enter Mohs map data into the Mohs database daily.
- Label, file, and store Mohs (histological) slides.
- Submit slides and tissue specimens as requested by supervising Physician to pathologist for confirmation of diagnosis.
- Maintain records of slide locations.
- Order and return slides to outside laboratories or offices.
- Pull pathology reports and slides for internal consultations and external consultations.
- Create and maintain accurate files and logs for records.
- Monitor inventory levels of supplies and equipment; organize and receive lab shipments.
- Maintain and operate laboratory and surgical equipment, including cryostat.
- Interact with patients in a supportive manner.
- Provide emergency assistance as required.
- Maintain documentation as required by CLIA guidelines.
- Maintain compliance with Company Compliance Program.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent under CLIA guidelines for high complexity testing.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience performing Mohs procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
