Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the Operations Director, the Mobile Unit Driver will operate the company vehicles and transport goods and materials in a safe and timely manner. The Mobile Unit Driver will be responsible for stocking the testing vehicles, scheduling maintenance, maintaining the vehicle in good condition, adhering to all traffic and safety regulations, and providing exceptional customer service to clients who boards the Mobile Unit. The Mobile Unit Driver will also assist in outreach to the community and provides educational materials to bystanders.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Driving and maintaining mobile testing vehicles.
  • Driving safely to and from destinations throughout New York City
  • Must pass and complete BAC driver safety course.
  • Assist with outreach activities by staffing the information tables.
  • Handing out educational materials on health and wellness
  • Participate in outreach committee
  • Manages the maintenance and cleanliness of the BAC vehicles.
  • Determines condition of agency vehicle(s) by inspection before and after each use.
  • Maintain daily inspection reports before and after vehicle use.
  • Responsible for maintaining service schedules for all BAC vehicles and determines condition of BAC vehicles by inspection before and after use.
  • Ensure vehicle is filled with all appropriate daily supplies, such as toiletries, paper towels, sanitizer, water, gas, etc.
  • Assess and determine the condition of all equipment and machinery and reports to the Director of Operations on any items that require repairs or replacement.
  • Responsible for cleaning Mobile units, such as cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms thoroughly. Also, perform daily cleaning activities such “high-touched” surfaces such as counters, tabletops, doorknobs, handles, bathroom fixtures, toilets, etc. to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
  • Collect and dispose of trash.
  • Processes maintenance request form for all maintenance and repair issues.
  • Perform other relevant maintenance and cleaning duties as necessary.
  • Continually Monitor vehicle at testing events to ensure peak performance of vehicle.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Conduct Fire drills on the Mobile units monthly.
  • Maintain a clean driving record and adhere strictly to all policies and procedures required by BAC.
  • Perform other related duties as need.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and respond within a reasonable time frame.
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to multitask, and maintain a schedule while responding to incidents.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and maintain productivity.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards and the ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely.
  • MINIMUM: NYS Driver’s license with at least two year's clean motor vehicle history
  • Bi-lingual, a plus.
  • Ability to work with individuals of various racial/ethnic backgrounds and sexual orientations.
  • Ability to withstand extended sitting and standing, climbing stairs and extended travel with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Must be able and willing to work weekends, nights and long/flexible hours as required by the position
  • Ability to lift 80 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.

WORK EXPERIENCES:

  • Minimum: One (1) year experience in community engagement or outreach work
  • Minimum: NYS drivers license with two (2) years with a clean motor vehicle history.
