Major Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance with supportive clinical tasks as defined by policy and procedure as directed by licensed RN staff & Surgeons
- Participates in the preparation of the Operating rooms/Case
- Participates in maintenance of the Surgery Department
- Ensures the Surgery area is appropriately stocked and supplied to meet the needs of the patient and Nursing Staff
- Assists with direct patient care under the direction of the Nursing staff
- Responsibility of professional growth, self-development and objective
Education/Experience Required:
- High School education 6 months - 1 year previous patient care experience in a hospital setting
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Ability to use computer keyboard Knowledge of medical terminology
- CPR
Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to rotate shifts to provide coverage Exposure to various contagious disease, radiation, chemical, caustic materials, electrical equipment and hazards associated with their use Ability to perform heavy lifting in accordance with DOL definition, bending, squatting, standing for prolonged periods and reaching overhead. Ability to handle multiple requests for assistance and to work in a fast paced stressful environment
- If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
