Mobile Pantry Coordinator

Job Summary: The Mobile Pantry Specialist will provide oversight of The Food Bank of Central Louisiana’s (FBCENLA) Mobile Pantries in assigned service areas. In collaboration with FBCENLA’s Mobile Pantry community partners, the Coordinator will ensure that our Mobile Pantry program is able to distribute nutritious food while ensuring food safety and program compliance efficiently and effectively. The Mobile Pantry Coordinator will ensure the success of the mobile distribution to meet the immediate need for food equitably throughout our service area, positively impact long-term food security in our community, and foster a hunger relief culture within our community and our organization.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide food bank management of Mobile Pantry distributions at assigned sites.
  • Develop positive relationships with Community Sponsors, Food Bank team members, and volunteers to ensure collaboration and the successful operation of mobiles.
  • Collaborate with Food Bank team members to share best practices, provide FBCENLA information, identify potential volunteers, problem solve, etc.
  • Ensure compliance documents for each assigned mobile are accurate, current, and policies are being followed at each distribution.
  • Manage and lead volunteers at Mobile Pantry distributions.
  • Manage supplies for each mobile site in assigned service area.
  • Collect and submit data as needed for the assigned distributions.
  • Manage third party outreach at mobile distribution to ensure all FBCENLA policies are followed.
  • Collaborate with Operations Manager on site specific delivery needs and arrival times.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for additional food distributions.
  • Attend department meetings as assigned.
  • Work with Programs Manager to develop safe and effective distribution policies to meet the needs of the service area.
  • Possess an openness and willingness to perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support volunteer activities as necessary and assigned.
  • Support efforts to maintain clean, safe, and orderly food bank.

  • To perform this job successfully, the individual should have advanced knowledge of the following computer software programs.

Qualifications

General

  • Must live in the assigned service area.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2- 3 years of experience with non-profit preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License with good driving record.
  • Regular access to dependable transportation with insurance.
  • Ability to successfully pass background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to travel 90%-95% through service area on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work outdoors on a regular basis in different types of environments/weather.

Specific to Position

  • Adequate verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to stand and walk for a minimum of eight hours.

This job operates in the field in a community-based environment that fluctuates both indoor and outdoor, in all types of environments/weather. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc. The noise level is moderate. In instances of a federal, state or locally declared emergency, The Food Bank of Central Louisiana is typically considered an essential service and emergency responder; all of its employees may be called in to perform regular or emergent duties outside the scope of their usual responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear. The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move 25-50 lbs. The employee must have the ability to work on a computer for several hours at a time, travel and drive daily, often getting in and out of a vehicle several times in a day. Will be required to bend and reach repeatedly when conducting site visits at partner agencies or handing out food at mobile pantries. Will be required to stand for the duration of a Mobile Pantry (2-4 hours) and bend and lift 25-50 pounds during Mobile Pantry distributions.
