Job description

U.S. Silica is a global performance materials company and a leading producer of commercial silica used in a wide range of industrial applications and in the oil and gas industry. U.S. Silica's wholly owned subsidiaries include EP Minerals and SandBox Logistics®. EP Minerals is an industry leader in the production of products derived from diatomaceous earth, perlite, engineered clays, and non-activated clays. SandBox Logistics® is a state-of-the-art leader in proppant storage, handling and well-site delivery, dedicated to making proppant logistics cleaner, safer and more efficient.
During our 121-year history, we have developed core competencies in mining, processing, logistics and materials science that enable us to produce and cost-effectively deliver over 400 diversified product types to customers across our end markets. As of December 31, 2020, we operated 23 production facilities across the United States. We control 489 million tons of reserves of commercial silica, which can be processed to make 197 million tons of finished products that meet American Petroleum Institute ("API") frac sand specifications, and 79 million tons of reserves of diatomaceous earth, perlite, and clays.
The Company is headquartered in Katy, Texas, and has an office in Reno, Nevada.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform all tasks in a safe manner. Be a role model and advocate for safety among co-workers.
    Perform all tasks in an environmentally responsible manner.
    Ensure compliance with all corporate policies, and Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) are met at all times.
  • Maintain, clean, and lubricate, or ensure being lubricated, all mobile equipment assets.
    Perform preventive and predictive maintenance as directed on all mobile equipment based on predefined check sheets and in accordance with manufactures specifications.
    Review and respond to all issues identified as a result, of oil/lube sampling to include creation of fault report.
    Routine troubleshooting and repairs on mobile hauling equipment.
    Diagnose and identify malfunctions, using computerized tools and equipment.
    Perform general maintenance and inspection of brakes, drive lines and tires.
    Inspect equipment and supplies on a regular basis so that equipment can continue to operate effectively, and parts are readily available when a problem occurs.
  • Ability to operate various types of heavy equipment so that problems can be evaluated.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate and complete records of inspections, measurements, and maintenance activities in JDE.
    Complete routine paper and/or computer work (work orders, work hours, parts, report-in functions, etc.)
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory counts/levels needed for mobile equipment service activities.
  • Responsible for maintaining the mobile equipment service bay, service truck, cabinets, tools, and equipment in a clean, well-organized 5S based manner.
  • Assist maintenance department as needed during outages and unplanned failures/breakdowns.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • Certification from an accredited school in mobile diesel and gas equipment service preferred.
  • 2 years general experience as a maintenance mechanic, preferably in a mobile maintenance setting.
  • Valid Driver License

SKILLS
  • Manufacturing experience, preferred
  • Understand purpose and function of basic mechanic tools (wrenches, screw drivers, pneumatic and power tools, pry bars, impact, pliers, etc...).
  • Cutting and welding with gas and electric (Fabrication skills a plus).
  • Possess an excellent safety record.
  • Basic computer skills (entering work hours, work orders, parts usage, etc.).
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

ABILITIES
• Comply with all corporate policies and Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) requirements while working.
• Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
• Good understanding of shop mathematics - add, subtract, multiply and divide.
• The ability to work with a high degree of autonomy in a dynamic environment.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Consistently be on time to work.
• Available for overtime and call-outs as needed.
• Demonstrate the ability to adapt to changes in the work environment.
