Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Mobile Registered Nurse and or Director of Mobile and School Based Health Services, the MLVN will utilize the nursing process to assess and identify the individual needs of patients through observation of disease symptoms, emotional state, laboratory reports, cultural and socio-economic background and response to medical regimen and treat in accordance with DAP Health policy, procedure, and protocols. Assists the physician, mid-level provider, head nurse and patient. The MLVN plays a critical role in the patient experience by optimizing clinic patient flow and working collaboratively with the mobile health team, clinical staff, and Community Health personnel to assure a patient centered environment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- MLVN is responsible for knowing their scope of practice.
- Prepare patients charts
- Obtain and or ensure each patient has a signed Consent to treat on file.
- Assists in controlling patient flow
- Prepares patients for examinations or procedures including positioning, draping, shaving and disinfecting treatment sites.
- Prepares and replenishes supplies in the Mobile Clinic exam rooms, lab, nurse and immunization assigned areas; maintain all clinical and non-clinical areas within the Mobile Clinic in an orderly and constant state of readiness for incoming patients
- Receives patients, takes and records chief complaint and prepares patient for examination; records blood pressure, pulse, respirations, pulse oximetry, height and weight
- Collects specimens, takes EKGs, may collect blood samples as requested by clinical personnel; assists the physician with examination, treatments, minor surgery, dressing changes and or other procedures as assigned.
- Explains to the patient or patient's legal representative the procedures followed in an examination, a diagnostic test or treatment at the request of the clinical personnel
- Assists the provider in the collection of specimens such as but not limited to pap smears, COVID19 tests and throat cultures.
- Assists with exams, invasive procedures and minor surgeries that are carried out by providers
- Prepares and replenishes supplies in the Mobile Clinic exam rooms, lab, nurse and immunization assigned areas; maintain all clinical and non-clinical areas within the Mobile Clinic in an orderly and constant state of readiness for incoming patients.
- Disposes of contaminated, disposable, and outdated items per protocol.
- Has knowledge of the operation of all equipment in clinical area and its correct use.
- Reports to Head Nurse or Director any equipment repair and maintenance needs.
- Assist Head Nurse or Director with clinical supply inventory and advises of any items needed to be ordered.
- Arranges medication and clinical supplies in order of expiration. This includes immunizations.
- Operates under the standing orders of the physician.
- Administers medications, premixed allergens, and performing skin test, patch testing
- Keeps up to date all quality assurance logs (Oxygen pressure, glucometer, refrigerator temperature, medication inventory, sample medication inventory, immunizations inventory)
- Establishes, interprets, and disseminates department policies and protocols to ensure uniform delivery of services and promotes quality assurance.
- Reviews patient record and forms for completion and accuracy.
- Provides patient counseling and education; ensures there is always written education materials available on the Mobile Clinic.
- Observe DAP Health policies and procedures and pro-actively participates in the implementation of new initiatives.
- Follow all infection control procedures including blood-borne pathogen protocol
- Maintains privacy and security of all patient, employee and volunteer information and or access to such information. Such information is accessed on a need-to-know basis for business purposes only
- Responsible for continuing education, have current license and CPR Card.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

- Ability to travel within the regions served by DAP Health.
- Ability to coordinate the delivery of care in a variety of settings and adapts to changes
- Able to lift/move up to 40 pounds, move from place and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload, work effectively and efficiently under stress
- Ability to proficiently read, write, speak and understand English
Education and Experience:
- Licensed as Vocational Nurse in the State of California
- Minimum of two years of experience in a clinic, physician's office, medical facility, public health department, or similar facility.
- Current and Valid CPR and First Aide certification obtained through the American Heart Association.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Proficient in the utilization of the electronic medical record system as it applies to this position.
- Experience working with homeless and low-income community preferred.
