We are seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse to join an amazing Children's Clinic in the Long Beach area. As an integral member of this healthcare team, you will play a crucial role in providing safe and compassionate patient care while assisting Clinic Providers with treatments, procedures, and clerical duties outlined in the Licensed Vocational Nurse Scope of Practice. The LVN will showcase competence in patient care across diverse age groups, ensuring quality care delivery and efficient patient flow.
Essential Duties and Functions:
Walk-In Schedule Management:
- Oversee the walk-in schedule to maintain efficient patient flow.
- Goal: Address walk-ins or implement a plan of action within a 45-minute timeframe.
Laboratory and X-ray Orders:
- Initiate and manage requests for laboratory and X-ray orders from Specialty Office or Primary Care Provider.
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Documentation:
- Accurately document patient history within the EMR system.
Medication Refill Requests and Prior Authorization:
- Handle refill requests and facilitate prior authorization for medications.
Case Management and Patient Education:
- Engage in case management activities and provide patient education as needed.
Vaccines:
- Administer vaccines in accordance with established protocols.
Weekly Medical Assistant Schedule:
- Supervise and coordinate the weekly schedule for Medical Assistants.
Mail and Faxes Correspondence:
- Oversee the timely completion of mail and faxes correspondence at least twice daily.
Forms Completion:
- Fill out necessary forms, ensuring all fields are completed, and forward to the provider.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintain regulatory compliance for all back office/nursing activities, including logs, quality control checks, and nursing stock medications.
- Conduct staff competencies and annual training, coordinating with Nurse Manager/Clinic Manager.
- Delegate tasks to and follow up with Medical Assistants and Licensed Vocational Nurses to ensure smooth and efficient patient flow.
- Collaborate as a team player, assisting other team members in various duties within your capabilities.
- Maintain open communication with other clinic staff.
Education and Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED completion.
- Completion of vocational school LVN training.
- Current California LVN license.
- Strong communication skills in oral and written English.
- CPR/BLS certification.
- Phlebotomy Certificate.
- Minimum of one year of outpatient setting experience preferred.
- Proficient clinical skills, including catheterization, injections, vital sign assessments, and patient rooming.
