The responsibilities for this Mk21A Equipment Specialist position include:

  • Providing expert technical advice and support to Sentinel Product Support Manager and Product Support Division leadership in reviewing, validating and supporting DoD acquisition and logistics efforts;

  • Acting as an Equipment Specialist for the Mk21A Program;

  • Planning, managing, and coordinating the total cradle-to-grave life cycle cost, schedule, performance and logistics support for assigned systems or subsystems, integrating separate functions of supply, maintenance, procurement, and quality assurance into program activities required to sustain the system;

  • Directing and determining support requirements; i.e., workloads, schedules, test equipment, facilities, skills, and training;

  • Developing Product Support plans and milestones as directed by policy and guidance to provide the best product for the user, ensuring the most effective and economical means of support are considered and planned during all stages of a weapon system’s life cycle;

  • Guiding and assessing the logistics impact to acquisition programs, identifies overall tasks to be performed and takes actions to meet requirements;

  • Providing expert technical advice and support to Sentinel Product Support Manager and Product Support Division leadership in reviewing and validating electronic Technical Orders and Technical Manuals; and

  • Ensuring accuracy and completeness of content; recommending corrective actions and providing support to programmatic and technical briefings, reports and other related documentation.


This position is only located at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, due to classified working environment and is not conducive to regular “telework” schedules.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • DoD Logistics experience - maintenance, inventory management, etc.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Be well organized, thrive in a sense-of-urgency environment, leverage best practices, and innovate through any problem with a can-do attitude.
  • Communicates effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Makes decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills


Familiarity with Air Force programs or depot environment

  • Experience providing advisory services to those who design, test, produce, procure, supply, operate, repair, or dispose of equipment in support of DoD weapon systems is typically required.

  • Experience in weapon system acquisition and sustainment logistics with comprehensive knowledge of the Integrated Product Support (IPS) elements. Have the ability to understand complex technical concepts and technical information of communications systems across the Air Force. Have the ability to communicate well and manage professional relationships with a multitude of stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of the applicable principles, concepts, policies, and laws; functions, programs, and systems applicable to the duties of position; sources, responsibilities, and means for providing assistance and advice to resolve problems; and all aspects of support.

  • Knowledge of safety, security, and the ability to identify, analyze, and translate complex information, make appropriate judgments, and evaluate options.

  • Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.

  • Logistics Management background, as applied to DoD acquisition programs, is preferred.

  • Full understanding of equipment life-cycle management directives and commonly used Air Force equipment management systems, procedures and forms, is preferred such as:

    • Enhanced Technical Information Management System (ETIMS)

    • D043 Master Item Identification Control System (MIICS)

    • Reliability and Maintainability Information System (REMIS)

    • Item Supply Support procedures

    • Air Force Technical Orders and their associated change procedures

    • Deficiency Report procedures

    • Disposal and Demilitarization procedures; etc.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills and a solid background in interpersonal skills are required.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing.

  • Experience with ICBMs is highly desirable.


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $52470 - $89190
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
