Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

1. Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures. Attend safety meetings and participate in safety program.
2. Maintenance repairs on all equipment including, but not limited to shredder, eddy current, hydraulics, etc.
3. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment, hand tools and personal knowledge to determine root cause
4. Interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics
5. Changing liners, grates, hammers, etc. on the shredder.
6. Possess specific fundamental knowledge of bearings, power transmission equipment, hydraulics/pneumatics, lubrication, welding principles, rigging, overhead cranes, gearboxes, and mobile equipment operation
7. Work with maintenance teammates on preventative maintenance repairs, scheduled repair projects and normal production.
8. Troubleshoot mechanical problems with ability to assist with unscheduled repairs as needed.
9. Perform daily inspections on equipment reporting any defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
10. Keep grounds clear of debris while maintaining safety standards.
11. General labor duties that may include but not limited to sweeping, shoveling and general clean-up of any area and/or equipment throughout the yard.
12. Effectively communicate over radio with teammates.
13. Willing to cross-train in other positions and assist other employees as needed.
14. Other duties as assigned by your manager.

1. Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-stop environment while providing excellent customer service.
2. Minimum of 2-years electrical and mechanical maintenance experience in either heavy industrial operations and/or manufacturing environment required
3. Knowledge of NEC codes.
4. Experience with hand tools, power tools and stick welding.
5. Ability to operate mobile equipment as needed.
6. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
7. Ability to adapt to frequent changes of priority and complete job tasks safely and effectively without constant supervision.
8. Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
9. Flexible to work overtime, off-hours, weekends, and holidays in an industrial environment which includes being outdoors in all weather conditions.
10. Minimum 5 years of experience with welding, cutting, fabrication, and equipment maintenance preferred
11. Bilingual preferred.
12. Candidates within 50 miles of location preferred.
