RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for operation of processing equipment and processes. Required to operate chemical equipment such as presses, evaporators, dryers and kilns, be able to interpret instruments and recordings, and make required adjustments to products. Required to adhere to company safety and environmental principles and objectives.
DUTIES
1. Ensure operational excellence of the oxide conveying, storage, milling and packaging systems.
2. Ensure equipment is maintained in optimal condition. Perform preventative maintenance and inspections regularly. Perform minor maintenance.
3. Monitor process controls and samples. Make corrective adjustments to maintain optimal process conditions.
4. Identify process issues promptly, identify the root cause, and take corrective action. If it is not possible to resolve the issue yourself, communicate your recommendation to the Production Coordinator and ensure the issue is resolved.
5. Ensure the iron oxide and acid quality meets and/or exceeds our customer’s expectations.
6. To protect yourself and coworkers, ensure all company procedures and policies are adhered to. If a policy appears to be illogical, do not ignore it, deal with it immediately by discussing it with the Plant Manager and resolving to either follow the procedure as written or to modify it.
7. Maintain accurate process records.
8. Inspect conveying and dust collection systems daily for leaks or blockage, and address issues promptly.
9. Ensure optimal operation of the dust collection system. Dismantle, clear, and reassemble iron oxide pneumatic conveying system when blockages occur.
10. Responsible for maintaining the 5S housekeeping plan including, but not limited to, keeping work area clean and orderly, daily sweeping of area under the roaster and around the scales.
11. Cover for vacation and absence of other operators.
12. Assist shipping by loading trucks, or packaging, when needed.
13. Assist roaster operator with preventative maintenance. Disassemble, power-wash, and reassemble CPL piping circuits. Disassemble, clean, remove, reassemble, and/or replace equipment requiring routine maintenance such as strainers, valves, pumps, nozzles, and filters
14. Perform other duties as required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
In the plant, employees may be exposed to noise, dust, heat, steam and hazardous materials requiring the use of safety equipment. Required to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to handle hazardous materials including use of a rubberized suit and respiratory apparatus when necessary. Job assignments may vary based on daily production needs and objectives.
Climbing and Lifting Required:
· Lifting and carrying up to 70#, 65-75% of the time
· Rolling barrels up to 500#, 10-25% of the time
· Climbing Ladders and stairs 75-90% of the time
QUALIFICATIONS
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An understanding of chemistry, mathematics and scientific methods. 12 hour shifts alternate between days and nights every 4 weeks. Overtime is required.
